how come Cotto is not considered as such? Because if weight?
JMM brother already said he is sure that weight won't be an issue.
Floyd is back and will serve all these guys and the discredit and
hate will continue by finding excuses on why he won and why the
other fighter wasn't top of their game. I don't get it, Floyd is the
best boxer in the world and no matter how much people want to
deny it, it's undeniable. I like Manny Pacquiao but come on, Floyd's
been a great boxer while Manny just reached his peak. I read mixed
posts on here, first Manny will knock Mayweather out and then
you read Manny's too small for Floyd? Then you read, Cotto
would beat Mayweather, then you read, Cotto may be damaged
goods from Marg? Then I read Floyd is ducking Mosley and now
I read, Mosley ain't getting NO younger? I mean, it is ridiculous
how some people tend to flip flop on this site with the excuses?
Manny Pacquiao is the greatest according to so many but now
there's a chance he may be too small to beat Floyd? So why is
he considered the P4P best and Floyd isn't anymore?
    great post homie.

most of these guys dont even have ful confidence in their "fave boxer"

right after the Pac-Hat fight. PAC could be beat anyone. hell, the way these fools were talking, he could beat superman.

how that the hype has died down, people have come back to their senses and realized that Pac's fight with hatton is no measuring stick when comparing to Floyd.

they know PAc is going ot get ****d

    Floyd>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the haters favorite boxer

manny is the p4p best but it doesn't he need to fyt big guys way out his own weight. he can fyt them alright but they have to give some concession, hence the catcth weight.

you can answer your own question on why floyd isn't the p4p best anymore.

floyd is considered a very good, skilled boxer, but an all time great/est is still debatable to some pundits...said because of his resume....like who's who he really defeated.

i don't think floyd retired anybody...that's just his own, lifting his bench. and his fans swallow whatever floyd says, hook line and sinker. in contrast, manny doesn't do any talking outside the ring.....

        • How can one say he ended someone`s career, if that someone after his loss took part in couple of fights and earned lots of $???

Everybody can have KO losses on his record, but such loss doesn`t necessarily mean that the career should end...

If comparing the Ricky`s defeats, i should say the KO from Pacquaio was more terrifying... A guy who came from the lowest divisions put Ricky to sleep with a single punch... And Ricky didn`t look much like a live person, while he was lying on the canvas...

P.S. Floyd seems to be so brave he should call Chuck Norris out...

IMO Floyd is the most skilled boxer of his generation. But the P4P ranking is subjectively based on the quality of opponents and dominating performances. Manny's #1 ranking simply means more people regard his recent resume higher than Floyd's.

Floyd has already decided that he's an ATG (I think he compared himself on par with Ray Robinson?). But unless that title is bestowed upon him by others, his own opinion, while admirable, is only self-serving.

Roy Jones was P4P King for years and really had'nt beaten anybody since he was a middleweight. The ONLY reason PAC is P4P now is because Floyd retired. If it was based on resumes Tito Trinidad would have replaced Roy Jones when he was P4P king.

              • @handler000 - you bring up some valid points. I have no problems with RJR as P4P #1 during his prime but some people will stop at marking him an ATG precisely for the reason you cited.

You're right that Manny filled the void due to Floyd's retirement. But if Floyd had not skipped town AND beat Mosely, Cotto, Williams or Margarito during the past year and a half (or fought two or more of these guys or had rematches with any of them), then probably far more people would consider him P4P king now. Unfortunately, that's not what transpired.
