Actually Chuck Liddell made over a million for one of his fights against Tito but that was including a cut of the PPV buys as well.

Like Tito Ortiz said, Chuck Liddell is the highest paid UFC fighter but doesnt even make 5% of the money the UFC make for one of his events.

Well defenetly MMa is a growing sport, and I love it it has been amazing to see how much UFC started and how it is now. There is still a long road ahead of MMA considering UFC is not the only circuit for it but they are doing well. As far as payrolls there is still a huge gap to fill between Boxing and MMA, and lets take in consideration that MMA as a popular or comercial sport does not have that many years. Lets take an example from UFC 76

      Total Payout $954,000

      Main Card Fighters
Keith Jardine ($14,000) defeated Chuck Liddell ($500,000)
Forrest Griffin ($44,000) defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua ($150,000)
Jon Fitch ($44,000) defeated Diego Sanchez ($22,000)
Lyoto Machida ($50,000) defeated Kazuhiro Nakamura ($20,000)
Tyson Griffin ($24,000) defeated Thiago Tavares ($9,000)

      Under Card Fighters
Rich Clementi ($24,000) defeated Anthony Johnson ($5,000)
Jeremy Stephens ($6,000) defeated Diego Saraiva ($3,000)
Christian Wellisch ($14,000) defeated Scott Junk ($4,000)
Matt Wiman ($16,000) defeated Michihiro Omigawa ($5,000)

      Date September 22, 2007
      Venue Honda Center
      City Anaheim, California
      Attendance 13,770 (11,817 paid)
      Total Gate $1,985,000

You see loooooong road to compare payouts, and boxing has been around for a long time and it is not fair to compare each other.

IMHO , neither boxing will die, nor MMA will lose steam. I just enjoy watching both of em.

        million dollars.
Chuck Liddell was only paid $140,000 and Randy Couture was paid $150,000. That means the main event fighters, the main reason people tuned in, got about three percent of the money."

That was 2005 but it's the same old stuff till this day, UFC fighters are the highest paid MMA fighters if you didn't know.

Yea...but most UFC fighters also earn income through endorsements and sponsorships. UFC fighters have endorsement deals with everything from tapout clothing line, Xyience energy drinks, gnc vitamin supplements, training equipment, so on and so forth.

The only boxers i've seen with endorsement deals with any major companies in recent times have been Shane Mosley with Affliction clothing (I believe he is part owner but im not sure) Mayweather with AT&T and Pacquiao with Nike and No Fear.

Yeah but the question was about Fight money. Not added on money. Because MMA fighters get paid a pretty penny if you add on the sponsorships. If we add that on then Chuck Liddell's payout isn't 500k a fight, its around 3mill a fight.

Nike is the best business move you can possibly make. If you get with Nike, your getting PAID.

Well like i said. It's really comparing apples and oranges. UFC in particular. UFC fighters only make 3-5% of a fight card's total earnings because they are under contract with the company. But the UFC covers alot of expenses for fighters that Golden Boy or Top Rank would not provide for any of its fighters. And the UFC also accomodates things like sponsorships and endorsements for these fighters. Something as simple as having a really big TAPOUT banner behind a fighter during their fight introductions pays exponentially more than a boxer having a golden palace fake tattoo on their back.

Well it's true...Boxing is all based on punching...MMA more than half the time is spent on the ground..So that is why there are more deaths in boxing..

I said RECENT TIMES. Mike Tyson's deal with Nintendo expired in 92 when he went to jail.

Affliction and the ring are not so much endorsments as advertisements for delahoya and Shane Mosley because they own the damn things. As well as george foreman and his damn grills.

I wasnt aware of Amir Khan being endorsed by Reebok. that's a good example, as well as RJJ and jordan.
