Absolutely, I was responding to people who were criticising Cotto for not wanting to go lower than 145 and weight drain himself. I don't see why he should go below 147, we have enough weight divisions as it is.

No, because Mayweather has never defended his Welterweight title against a top Welterweight, and because his fans justify this by claiming that he's not a natural Welterweight and saying he's still a natural Jnr Welterweight. If he's still a natural Jnr Welterweight then he should fight Marquez at 140. If he's a natural Welterweight (and he clearly believes that he is, given that he's insisted on fighting Marquez at 147), then he should fight some top Welterweights, and shouldn't be fighting Marquez.

In effect he has said exactly that, except he's said he's willing to come down 2lb but no more than that. I think it would be better if he said no to catchweight altogether, we have enough divisions as it is. But if he thinks he can manage 2lb but no more than that without being weight drained, and if he stands by that, I don't see how you can criticise him too much.

fredie roach made it clear in the beginning that pacquiao will fyt either mosley or cotto, if either is willing to come down at a catchweight near the JWW division. if cotto thinks that he will be weight drained at this weight, then there's no reason for him to make the fight with pacquiao.

Marquez called out Mayweather to fight "at 140 or a little over". He tried to make the fight at catchweight, and only agreed to 147 in the end because he had no other choice. So your attack on Pac for also wanting to fight at catchweight is hypocritical in the extreme.

AFAIR Roach said catchweight but didn't specify what weight he had in mind - I don't remember him specifying that it had to be "near the JWW division". When Salud subsequently said he wanted Pac to fight Cotto next, he didn't specify the weight at all. I don't think Arum said anything about the weight either. But I don't see why Cotto shouldn't respond to Arum and Salud calling for the fight by saying "if you want to make the fight, this is the weight I'm willing to fight at, and if Pac doesn't want to fight at that weight, no problem, I'll fight someone else." If Pac doesn't want to fight at that weight, no problem, he, too, can fight someone else. In terms of what's best for the health of boxing though, I think it should be at 147 or not happen at all.
