      Marquez's disadvantages are increasingPosted May. 18, 2009 at 10:10pm
      By Michael Rosenthal

At least the fighters appeared to agree on a catch weight of 144 pounds, as it was explained by Marquez’s camp when the fight was announced on May 2.

However, now, even that equalizer is gone. The sides have agreed in the end that this will be a welterweight fight, meaning they can weigh as much as 147 pounds. That’s exactly what Mayweather weighed in his last fight, against Ricky Hatton in December 2007.

Fight is B.S Marquez has had two fights at 135lbs and is being asked to move up to 147?

Mayweathers career since 135 has stank and fans, REAL FANS know what he is doing.

I'll always be a Mayweather fan but I agree this is ridculous 144 lbs was great because it was between 140 and 147 but 147 lbs is too high .....

Marquez is a warrior, thats why.

He has taken more risks in the last 2yrs than Floyd in his whole career.

Well he already signed, then the rules were changed and he couldnt back out.

                That what it could be.

I mean, Mayweather is my favorite fighter, nobody touches him skillswise right now, but f.uckin el, there comes a point where even we have to say that this kind of **** is getting tiring.

Why does "the best fighter of the decade", "the current most skilled fighter", a top 30 ATG according to many of his fans, need to fight a small lightweight at 147 LBS?

There are BIGGER fights than Marquez at 147 LBS. How is Mosley not a bigger fight than Marquez?

                  This ***** is ridiculous.
                  It's a tune-up fight. But with more surface prestige than a 147 tune-up fight.

Just because Floyd says it isn't a tune-up fight, doesn't mean it isn't. That's called hype. It's intended to sell the fight.

A big part of me wants that Cotto-Pacman fight to be made and for Cotto to win it. Just because Floyd's hand would be forced to fight Cotto and I think we'd see him rise to the occasion. Although there would be some small regret in missing out on the historical event of the Emeritus P4P facing the Current P4P, Mayweather-Cotto would still be a huge enough fight in the wake of Cotto beating Pac, and fighting/beating the winner of a fight between those 2 would be the next best thing to fighting/beating both (which is what I'd ideally love to see), from a Mayweather POV.

A PPV "tune up" fight with a 24/7? Are you seriously that delusional?

So you're saying that Mayweather and you guys, his fans aren't going to tout this victory as a victory that will add to his legacy?

Just be real about it. This is a straight up, cherry picked fight. Call it like it is and stop ***** footing for Floyd.
