Juan has good skills, solid chin, high workrate, good jab, decent footwork and throw good combinations.

David Diaz is a slow one dimensional pressure fighter who struggled to beat a shot Morales.

Juan would beat him the same way he beat Katsidis.
He is overrated. He was hailed as the next mexican great at one point because he had 3 lightweight belts he procured from shot fighters themselves. He called out Manny Pacquiao after beating a shot Julio Diaz saying Pacquiao only beats old mexican warriors and that Pacquiao wouldnt be able to hang with a young mexican warrior like himself. then ducks David Diaz and loses to a journeyman fighter who is far older than the oldest fighter Pacquiao ever fought (Marquez). Then he also gets KTFO by him in 9 too when Pacquiao went 24 rds of absolute war with him.

David Diaz was arguably the rightful linear champ for knocking out Jose Armando Santa Cruz after Santa Cruz lost to Casamayor in what was dubbed "robbery of the year"

And a shot Erik Morales is still Erik ****in Morales by the way.

Juan at best could have folded up a round or two more than David. A lot of people underestimated Manny's power prior to his first bout north of 130.

Juan Diaz was the undisputed lightweight champion when he called pacquiao out. Pacquiao was planning on going up to Lightweight, Why not fight the number 1 guy at 135 ? There is nothing wrong with him wanting to fight Pacquiao when Pacquiao was planning on going up to 135 and was looking for a title shot....

Losing to Marquez and Campbell is nothing to be ashamed of especially the Marquez loss. Marquez gave Pacquiao all he could handle in two fights so the fact that Juan was able to give him a good fight proves he is a good fighter.

So because David was argueably the Linear champ at 135 that makes him better than Juan Diaz ? I guess that means Baldomir was better than Floyd when he was the Linear champ at 147.

and being shot doesn't count then, ok i guess that means Ali was still Ali against Holmes and Tyson was still Tyson against Mcbride......

The only things i have been saying is that Juan Diaz is overrated and that I would have favored David Diaz to beat him. I'm not saying is or isnt better because they never fought. We wont know unless they do.

Juan Diaz won the WBA belt from Lakva Sim. A mediocre fighter at best. then he called out Pacquiao in the post fight interview after beating a shot Julio Diaz for the WBO and IBF title. then lost to Nate Campbell who was an OPTIONAL title defense. Ranked 9th by the WBO. Campbell was a journeyman up until that fight. He put himself on the map with that fight. But the fact that Juan had faced only ok competition is overshadowed by the fact that he had 3 lightweight belts. I simply think he is overrated because regardless of having 3 belts...he was only really tested twice in his whole career. and both times he failed.

David Diaz on the other hand showed the ability to consistently come from behind to beat opposition that were much more talented than him.

Juan Diaz is only young and in those fights against Marquez and Campbell he showed alot of heart and skills. I surprised no one gave him credit from his impressive performance against Marquez regardless if he did get knocked out in the end. Campbell may be old but is still a good fighter who is tough for anyone at 135 and 140.

Diaz's level of competition isn't the best but he is willing to face the best as he proved against Marquez.

I give him credit for his performance against Marquez. Its hard to complain against fight of the year material. But what would you say is Juan's best win?? It would either be Aceleino Freitas or Julio Diaz. Both of whom were very battleworn by the time Diaz got to them and which i subject to the same scrutiny that one wold subject David Diaz's win over Morales.
