Segal was an Aikido guy. They don't even spar live. Big deal beating him or scaring him. IN fact: Judo Gene (remember him) Choked the **** out of Seagal on the set of one of his **** movies.

Judo Gene is also the same guy who owned Lee in sparring.

I don't recall if he ever sparred with Wall or not. But I know Gene kicked his ass rather easily. Gene was no Joke back in the day.

I have heard different accounts from "Bruce LOVED grappling and would have incorporated it" (jockriders) to "Bruce tended to hate grappling but was aware of it" (haters).


I think he was aware of it but was not comfortable with it (in between). He might have incorporated it but we'll never know. He SAID he was open minded so it's not crazy to assume he would have dug it, but in practice you are right it seemed he understood the ranges of stand up fighting much better.
