He was a free agent at the time. It was in 2001 and a documented offer.
    True, true.

The fight was going to be in America. Look it up if you don't believe me, I'm not here to prove everything to you.
I doubt very much specifics were discussed. Anyway...so?

    Calzaghe talks alot of crap.
Except when he's calling out Jones. Then it's all true.

Yeah because Jones doesn't have a track record of avoiding people lol. People can say Calzaghe wasn't a big enough name but look at some of the cans Jones fought. He was offered good cash to fight Calzaghe and turned it down to fight weaker opposition.
Using your logic what would you call Calzaghe's opposition during his prime?

2001, Really? I got a quote from 2003, here ya go

      Calzaghe in 2003.

This is London magazine has been established for over 65 years, providing readers with information about events, exhibitions, music, concerts, theatre and dining. As life returns to normal, Londoners are heading back into the Capital and many visitors are already coming from further afield.

      Quote:
"I could probably give Jones a tough fight, probably the best fight he's ever had," said Calzaghe. "But I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown ***els I wouldn't want to risk it."

Joe should be glad the fight did not happen because he loses his "0" and he does not become the biggest unbeaten FOAT.

Calzaghe vs Jones was never a viable fight in each of their respective "primes".

Jones wouldnt even fight the best in his own division. So a fight against an unknown Welsh WBO title holder in the division below wasnt exactly going to set his pulse racing.

By the time Calzaghe was a big enough name to get Roys attention, he was already being sc****d off the canvas.

Calzaghe seeked unification fights is whole career. I've went into this before but I can't be arsed today. In a nutshell Calzaghe seeked the big fights while Jones avoided them.

What's your point? That while Jones was renegotiating with HBO that he ducked Calzaghe?

You know something? The proof is in the pudding. When you go back a few years to Mayweather-Margarito, you find articles talking about how Floyd should fight the unknown guy. When you go to other guys being ducked, you find similar articles. You look up Roy Jones - once dubbed Reluctant Roy - and you'll find a host of old articles claiming he avoided Benn, Eubank, Michalczewskki, etc. Whether it's true or not depends on who you ask. One name NEVER pops among in those old articles...Joe Calzaghe. It's amazing how, years later, revisionist historians want to pretend this was the case. I DID follow boxing at the time so it's a little strange to me. But regardless, would've, should've, could've. Calzaghe's legacy is what it is.
