I think he should have teamed up with the Prince. What better person to talk to than him.....
And you make it out like boxers are leaving Warren everyday to make it for themselves with no promoter in America. Its just not very realistic.

Naz didnt leave Warren until he was a major star either.

I know its not but I think he could have had a different out come if he did team up with Naz though. Made a big(er) name for himsefl that early on.

Wasnt Naz an HBO fighter? I can't even remember now...... seems like forever ago.

He simply doesn't have the type of personality that generates a big fan base, whereas Hatton does. And at the time you're talking about, when he was an unknown in the States, and with a tiny fan base, no US promoter would have been interested in promoting him.

You may as well say that Pac got lucky with his win over JMM.

We've debated the reasons why he retired when he did ad infinitum in other threads, so I'm not going back over it again, but I don't believe it was because he didn't want to risk his 0.

And no one was calling for him to fight Johnson last year, so I don't know why you mentioned him. The only fights most people were interested in him taking after Roy were either Dawson or Hopkins; and the only fight most people were interested in him taking instead of Roy was Pavlik.

Calzaghe and Johnson wanted to fight each other a few years ago, though, but it fell through twice due to injuries, which Calzaghe described as the lowest point of his entire life, because he thought then that his injuries had destroyed for ever his chances of ever getting any big fights. Calzaghe didn't back out, he tried to postpone, not cancel, but then Johnson got a chance to fight Roy and took that instead, and who can blame him.

        I agree with you there.

Lol.......this isnt WWF. This isnt like the Ultimate Warrior teaming up with Hulk Hogan to win the tag team titles. Come on now.

Yes Im pretty sure Naz was an HBO fighter.

Agreed and I would say that Jones was lucky in his win over Tarver. But I would much rather Pac fight JMM again than Mayweather, Cotto or Mosley. Mayweather should be fighting Cotto when he beats Clottey..... but it is what it is.

but I don't believe it was because he didn't want to risk his 0.
I do. I think it was his "0" and making money that motivated him. He didnt think he had to prove anything so why not look at it that way.... he was smart. If hes happy with his career thats all that matters IMO.

But for real. I think if Joe would have he could have done well for himself. It would have been a risk and it falls under the woulda should coulda bla bla but I think it woulda worked out. Just think Joe Calzaghe flipping into the ring like Naz or dancing like a fool taking 15 min to get into the ring...... lol that fool was crazy!

Even Wlad Klitscko is more likely to be able to carry off that sort of thing than Joe Calzaghe was. Calzaghe just isn't a showman, he doesn't have it in him to do that sort of thing. To put it bluntly, as a personality, he's nice but boring. That's why he couldn't have left Warren in 2001 and promoted himself.

Sometimes I dont even think the Klits are even alive....... Thats bad. They should thank Haye for bringing life back into the HW's. I hope Haye shocks the world.

but o well..... i'm about to get up and out of here!

If he was knocked out, he wouldn`t be "Joe Calzaghe" anymore...

"Joe Calzaghe" is all about the "0" losses...

And ,i guess, Joe was never put to sleep with a single punch in the ring, so he doesn`t know what Hatton feels after his loss...
