Haha...is that why he tried to get fights with Hopkins and Jones only to be turned down?

one thing you need to understand about boxing and this is a pretty important thing. just because you are throwing punches doesn't mean you are landing punches. just a small little detail in boxing. seems like the only people fooled by calzaghe's power are his nuthuggers and the ref.
Funny how no ref has ever pulled Calzaghe about his punches and the judges seem to score them too.

You're not fooling anyone here, you're just showing your lack of knowledge. I've watched all of Calzaghe's fights and it's evident he could punch. Eubank said Calzaghe hit him as hard as anyone, and Eubank had a great chin. I think I'll take his word over someone who hasn't seen a Calzaghe fight pre-Lacy.

Couldn't disagree more. Until we see his age catch up to him in a ring (and I'm not talking about fading down the stretch against a workrate like Calzaghe's), Hopkins is still very much elite.

              Uh

              Taylor 1/2
              Calzaghe

You can clearly see age catching up to his workrate.

Even in fights he was winning unless the guy just gave up as a walking punching bag (Tarver/Pavlik) you can see him slowing down ever since the Tito fight. But hey, keep dreaming that Hopkins was at his best when he fought Joe.

Give me a fight that was stopped a little prematurely that Calzaghe wouldn't have likely went on to stop him. I'm not trying to portray Calzaghe as a concussive puncher but he had good power back then. It's not even up for debate really.

He'd to have surgery and 6 months rehabilitation and was out for a year. When he came back he looked terrible against Manfredo, even worse against Mendoza were he got rocked a few times and arguably lost. And most recently he struggled and won a dubious decision over Otis Griffin ffs. He hasn't knocked anyone out since the Calzaghe loss and the severe injury so that pretty much shows he's completely shot because his competition has hardly been stellar. He was well over-hyped by yanks (the next Tyson ) but he wasn't nearly as bad as he's potrayed now.
Yeah...why do people keep referring to this shoulder injury as the reason why Lacy no longer looks good? Here's a good question: When did Jeff Lacy EVER look good? Don't tell me about the hype, or the next Tyson, etc. Point out a fight where he looked impressive. Just one.

Let's see...Sheika? No. Vanderpool? No. Williams? No. Please, someone help me out here.

Tried by trying to have the fights in his backyard? Even though all he had to his name was a joke trinket SMW WBO belt? yeah he tried REALLY hard.

He looked okay in the Reid fight. OKAY. Not good.
