You can call them paper champs, which is probably true, but they were and still are in Fragomeni's case top crusierweight contenders. Haye beat Frag before his brief reign, but it's still a quality win. Enzo Mac is a solid win too, even if he's chinny.
Mormeck was always in the top crusierweight picture for about 5 years until now. He had lost to Oneil Bell, but avenged that defeat. You could say he was slightly past his prime, which he maybe was, but it's still a quality notch win.Mormeck is decent and was the recognized champ, but as far as recognized champs go he is nothing truly special.
People act like Haye cleaned out the CW division, and the truth is he didnt even come close.... He was not this dominant undisputed CW champion people say he is, so to even call him legit because of this is silly.

He wasn't a dominant long reigning, but he had pretty much beat the top contenders minus Steve Cunningham and the IBF circut of fighters who Cunningham beat. The IBF fighters still weren't better then Mormeck was.
Haye doesn't have a fantastic resume, but it's pretty good for 22 fights.Comment

They are solid wins, but they are no better than some of the marginal contenders Klitschko has beaten at heavyweight, and they could just as easily been beaten by any top cruiserweight. Put Frag or Macca in with any top CW and tell me if you would lay any sort of money with any confidence on them.
What makes Mormeck such a dominate CW? He split with Bell, and Bell wasnt great, he beat an overated Wayne Braithwaite, or an old Virgil Hill. I will give him credit for maybe being the best Cruiserweight for awhile, but lets face it, up until recently, being the best CW was like winning the Special Olympics Beauty Pagent. Also, would Mormeck have been tops so long if he had fought more than 9 times in 5 years (counting the L's to Bell & Haye)?
Again I ask what top contenders, he exited the division before Adamek established himself, never fought Jones who was established, and as you mentioned he didnt fight Cunningham.
Credit for what he did do, but its not as much as people pretend like it is.Comment

it's funny he wins his next fight he's unified and be recognized as no.1 in 2 weight divisions in 23 fights, I think it's a bit harsh to compare resumes as they can only fight who is out there and they are both doing that. Bring on June 20Comment

After Mormeck's fights with Braithwaite and the two fights with Bell a lot of people thought he was very good on here, i can bump some of the old posts.Comment
