Undefeated Anthony “Rocky” Marcial Sets High Goal 2010

    PhilBoxing.com
    Mon, 18 May 2009

Manila based prospect, the hard-hitting Anthony “Rocky” Marcial who poses a menacing, flawless record of 14wins-0loss-13KO and currently rated number 7 in the world see’s action in the undercard of the highly anticipated triple header at the New Cebu Coliseum this coming May 28th.

Marcial's recent victim at Naga, Cebu was the highly respected veteran Jaime Barcelona who posed a really good test for Marcial however, lasted only eight rounds against the heavy-fisted young prospect.

This coming May 28th, Rocky Marcial along with his manager-trainer Joven Jimenez and Tony Pacopia is preparing to do battle against Eric Macas of Lanao Del Norte to surely delight local Cebu fight fans in the undercard.

Team Marcial is not taking Macas lightly as he too has a credible amateur record in the past and was also considered a top prospect of Bong Yap's Black Scorpion Stable in the past.

Rocky Marcial who international matchmaker Sampson “Picasso” Lewkowicz informed during an international phone conversation will be his next big project in Asia this coming 2010, as he will be directing his future fights in the United States under the wing of his promotional outfit Sampson Boxing Promotions.

“The kid is definitely a prospect, with a knock out ratio like that, promoters will be taking keen interest on this Filipino young kid. I have explained to the team of Marcial that they should rack up more experience and fight more competitive matches in the Philippines to gain confidence on fighting abroad," said Lewkowicz.

Thereafter, sometime early next year Marcial should be ready to take on competitive matches in the States and get the exposure he needs like how I started up Manny Pacquiao," Sampson Lewkowicz explained.

“I would like to congratulate SGG Sports Promotions efforts in getting these young prospects where they are now, they are sure on the right track," he added. "You will see what I can do next year for these young prospect, I will pave their way and one or two of these prospects will become world champion."

Anthony “Rocky” Marcial who stands at 5’9” and fight at Jr. Lightweight at age 21 is considered one of the country’s best young prospects that could be in the verge of following in the footsteps of the great Pound for Pound King Manny Pacquiao.

“With his age, height and talent, he will surely develop into a multiple title challenger," assures manager-trainer Joven Jeminez.

Meanwhile, SGG Sports Promotions Sammy Gello-ani is gearing up to his exciting triple title fight extravaganza at the Cebu Coliseum this coming May 28th. The three anticipated match is “Marvelous” Marvin Sonsona going up against hard hitting former world champion Wandee Singwangcha for the vacant WBO Oriental flyweight champion.

Along with defending WBO Inter-continental champion Ramie Laput versus former WBO world champion Ratanachai Sor Vorapin.

The card will also feature world rated number #6 Jhonriel Casimero against highly respected RP ranked contender Ardin Diale of Manila defending his WBO Asia Pacific Jr. flyweight title.

The Phiippines is here to stay like it or not.
I know you guys are, you guys have been here for awhile, what I meant is you guys won't have another Manny for awhile because your current prospects keep coming up short, as we both said maybe in a few years better prospects will come out and maybe be the future in PI boxing.

As for the topic...Banal in his next fight on the Mayweather-Juanita Undercard...His promoters should test him to a credible opponent who can give him a tough fight..Not a fighter who just came to lay his a$$ on the canvass...But as I could noticed AJ is more stronger at Bantamweight.....
Something we can both agree on, maybe I am wrong, maybe he can be a force to be reckon with down the line, but with his current opponents I don't see that happening.

the biggest hurdle in a mexican p4p has been the fact that Jones, Hopkins and Mayweather dominated for so long. Those guys are all once in a generation type fighters. Pac is number 1 because mayweather retired. Now if mayweather hadnt had done that there is no garuntee manny would be number 1, mostly because mayweather would have fought DLH again likely, thus removing pac from that equation. Its hard to say if pac would still be number 1. At this point, he IS the clear cut number one, but more than anything, its more or less because mayweather retired and left an opening for the DLH fight.

Yeah he was champ but never got a shot at recognition. He was the number one in line to challenge Johnny Tapia but Tapia didn't wan't none. Why didn't he want none? Because Gerry got to prove himself a little to late.

That's true. When i hear/read of Bautista, Concepcion, or Banal being the next Pac, i just interpret it as the next world title holder. But to say their the next P4P king, excitemnt, and attacker as Pac, no chance. By the Philippine press calling them the next Pac, a lot of pressure are on the shoulders of the upcoming Pinoy boxers.

Exactly, you guys are now getting more and more prospects, its only a matter of time before you guys get prospects that have the potential of Manny or Nonito.

The problem with most of the Pinoy prospects is that they try too hard to be like Pac that they lose.
