    Yep, Joe messed up.

If he took on Pavlik first, he probably would have fought Jones anyway. It would have been a comprehensive victory, I think Pav would do a little better against Joe but he'd still get beasted, and actually be in danger of getting stopped if Joe got into a pattern latter in the fight. When Hopkins really put two and three's and fours together it was kind of uncomfortable to watch, that's all Calzaghe would be doing. Pavlik would hit Joe though with a few right hands perhaps, so he'd have some success I think, and if he could hurt Joe it could change the fight. Doubtful though.

Calzaghe does not have the chin that Hopkins has. He has been dropped several times by fighters not considered BIG punchers. Hopkins dropped him with a right hand and an OLD Jones dropped him with a right hand. I think he saw the straight right hand of pavlik as being his biggest weapona and opted for an older and bigger name in Jones....lefty

Joe Calzaghe doesn't actually get hurt often.

Getting caught of balance is one thing. Both knockdowns against Hopkins and Jones are fairly dubious. Hopkins was a punch and a shove, and Roy's was just a straight up fluke anyway you look at it, and yeah that did hur Joe, but that was barely a punch...at all.

Joe has a world class chin. No doubt.

You could check all three options. Yes he is somewhat limited. Yes He appears sluggish at anything over 160lbs. Yes Hopkins is a genius.

Hopkins deserves most of the credit, but Pavlik jumping up to 170 compounded what Hopkins did to him. Taylor used a lot of lateral movement in the second Pavlik fight and Pavlik was still able to find him and still able to throw punches.

you do realize that boxing did exist before 2005 right?

                  definetely does. I agree.

Put more by sneaky rights, Pavlik's almost always comes behind a jab.

No **** sherlock, but he is much older now. And he showed pretty good workrate and landed punches for an old-timer. In his other fights with Calzaghe and Winky he was less offensive.
