I'm not giving Floyd Senior any credit for Hatton's boxing ability in the Malignaggi fight. I've been a fan of Hatton's since 2004 and if you watch his older fights like the fight against Phillips or Tackie he clearly could box at the point and had a similar display in the Malignaggi fight.
Did Floyd Senior make any difference in Ricky Hatton? Not in my opinion. It's ultimately Ricky's fault for his performance in the end though, so not all blame is reserved for Mayweather. I would say Mayweather was more harm than good, though.
How was Sr. harm? Didnt he tell Ricky in between rds to move his head and use faints? He just didnt start telling him this for the fight. Ricky got ****y and felt he could muscle Pac around and got tagged PERIOD. Hatton was sold to the public because he beat an over the hill JLC and Tsyzu. Just more HYPE. He is a "B" level fighter at best. Can anybody say Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini?
people were unhappy in his camp = an excuse? interesting. never knew that was a legitimate reason to pull out of a fight.
the biggest mistake Hatton made was hiring Floyd Sr in the first place. an awful matchup, and its one of the reasons he got mauled THAT badly against Manny.
How was Sr. harm? Didnt he tell Ricky in between rds to move his head and use faints?
inbetween rounds? you mean that one round inbetween one and two, after Hatton had already been dropped twice in the first round?
what makes a good trainer is not getting an already excellent fighter and giving them good advice...its taking a fighter and making them the best they can be with their style and abilities.
Hatton stuck around on the outside too often trying to box, and Pacquiao was too fast and too accurate. he ate Hatton up.
If Hatton had just straight up bulled into Pacquiao since the very beginning, he could have actually survived the early rounds and might have made a decent fight out of it. Pacquiao needs room to generate power, and if Hattan fought just the way he did against Tszyu, he could have nullified some of Pacquiao's speed and power.
This just goes to show how good 24/7 is at making people buy into the hype. According to 24/7 Ricky was having the best camp of his career, and Oscar was rejuvenated at the lower weight and was in the greatest shape of his life!
Take it as it is Ricky. You trained with Mayweather for Malignaggi, and did well. You trained with him against pacquiao a superior fighter and lost. take it for what it is and stop making excuses
LMAO what a joke the excuses keep piling up!!!!!!! I love it how they are like "not to make excuses but well the excuse is (fill in the blank). Hatton's team is pissing me off seriously just go jump of a cliff somewhere.
Wait, so Ricky trained for 12 weeks whereas Manny trained for 8. Now they say the camp was chaotic and if that was the case he could have easily had sorted something out in the first 4 weeks and still had sufficient time to get an 8 week camp in.
Excuses if you ask me. Hatton did his fair share of talking before the fight. Stuff lke "I'm too big for Manny", "He's never fought anyone like me", as well as discrediting Pacquiao's credentials in an article on the BBC website. Then the guy gets smacked around worse than Tina Turner, put to sleep and now his dad is trying to make excuses for the fact that his son can't cut the mustard. I guess he had to look for something to blame since he couldn't blame the ref.
I'm a big Hatton fan,but it is apparent that Raymond is talking bollocks.Maybe his camp wasnt perfect, but no training camp ever is,despite what fighters and trainers tell the media in the run up.I got the impression that there were a few tensions in the Pacman camp in the build up,so what?
Even if Ricky had had the best camp of his life,it seems obvious now that he would have lost anyway.Pacman was just too good full stop, end of story.
By the same token,****ting on Hatton is plain ******,as the guy has had a tremendous career, one that 99% of fighters would love to have,he has made many millions and headlined cards in las vegas.Thats all that matters, and no one can take that away from him,so before you type some ****e you best have a look at your own life situation, and if that doesnt do it then have a look at your bank statement!
Hatton is the king of excuses. First it was two years of excuses for ducking Mayweather. Then he fights him and gets KO'd and blames the ref and the weight. Now he's KO'd again, flat out knocked out ****ing cold, and he's got more excuses. I am sick of Hatton and will gladly watch him get KO'd every day of the week. Piece of **** fighter
