he has a fight coming up. if he just takes care of himself in between that fight and training camp (if pac is his next fight) he shouldn't have any problems. no need to diet. just get around to a healthy 155-160 and rehydrate 10-15 lbs. (which is the norm for boxers nowadays)
He was as high as 170 (which I think he considered good) before his last fight.

he lives in Puerto Rico: it's a party.

And, not sure anybody expected Oscar to do what he did with his weight loss. Showing up at 147 by fight-time....crazy. That was just over-board. If you are at WW, usually you show up at 10+ pounds over that when you are someone like Oscar. Floyd doesn't, but he isn't Oscar and the others.
That's why we have Autopsies. To see the cause of death because many may have not seen it coming.

Same day weigh-ins. I suggested this too and people said it wouldn't work. And I had the Floyd bashers say it was only because of Floyd even though I brought up Gatti-Gamache and backed it up with articles about the consequences of allowing fighters to rehydrate so much thus giving the possibility of two fighters at different weights by fight-time and leaving one fighter at a disadvantage.

So now you see, if they did have same day weigh-ins, Pac moves up to WW right next to Floyd. Cotto and Shane move up to MW.

Well, we can't blame Freddie for being a freakin' genius, he looks like a Nostradamus the last 2 Pacman fights. For what it's worth, I not sold into this same day weigh-in either. I want the best from both boxers, and not like 2 malnourished kids throwing pitty-patty punches atop the ring fighting for bread crumbs, and in slow motion. I want their best, their fiercest, Their fastest, their strongest version, period. I want to see a future classic.

But you can't just throw Pacman in their in the lion's den, ripe for the picking and ready to be devoured. There's got to be a little bit of an equalizer, is what I'm saying Benny...

Valero has everything to win and nothing to loose if he fights Pac. He still hasn't proved himself against elite fighters to earn a shot. He is an exciting fighter but he has to fight some young top fighters in his weight to earn a shot. He will always have a punchers chance but if he Manny beats him, Manny will not gain anything by doing so. I think the Pac team are looking now for the biggest most profitable fights out there and right now Valero is not it. Its gonna be either Cotto, Mosley or Mayweather. If Marquez beats Mayweather that would be the biggest purse he would get that would be available to him.

what are they gonna do if a fighter rehydrates too much? make him piss and not drink water?

only thing that matters is the official weigh in. the purpose of a catchweight is to limit how much cotto puts on after weigh in.
cotto's problem is going down below 147.
people claim that it's unfair for him to make 144 due to too much weight drain.
but not unfair for manny to move up at cotto's wt of 147.
in that case, cotto makes 147 but limit his bulking up to 160-162 during fyt tym.
therefore it will be easier for cotto to limit rehydration than to dehydrate to 144.
and the cap weight suits him more than "same-day weigh in and fyt".
            that's my drift....

Cotto is the best Welterweight in the world today and if Manny wants to face him by my guess. I love Manny he is great but Cotto is on another level and he is in his prime unlike Oscar.
