cotto is too healthy that's the problem. lol

adding 10-15 lbs. of rehydration is the norm.

even at a catchweight of 143-144. he can come in the ring at 153-159 lbs.

153-159 lbs. should not be a problem for a 5 ft. 7 welterweight don't you think?

when will everyone understand that a catch weight is to even things out not to get an advantage between a fight.. cotto is too big, 147 during weigh ins and almost 160 during fight time, pacman comes 138-142 in weigh ins and 147-148 during fight time. think about it, dont spout nonsense. your not children anymore guys, think before speaking lolz

And if he wants Shane or Cotto to come down in weight, that is another strike.

Better to fight "healthy" fighters or don't fight them at all.

If Velero wants to move up, I have no problem with that.
          be fair , benny.

morales only looked bad during the 3rd fight.

Here is the thing about coming in lower. When you have to diet, your stomach adapts to how much you eat. So if you have to eat smaller meals and eat less, your stomach shrinks with your body. So if that shrinks, you won't be able to replenish your body the same way as before because your stomach will only hold and absorb so much.

So he can be throwing off his whole system just by dieting down to lose 4 pounds to get to 143. Your hormones also react to what you eat and how you train. You don't want to stress your body out to much either.

It really depends on what he is doing right now for his diet and training.

One thing we do know is that below 147, he looked vulnerable. This is something Freddie knows like the rest of us that has watched Cotto over the years.

A corpse Oscar? And everybody knew that before the fight actually happened? The 1st Morales fight was at 130, the rematch was at 130, the rubber match at 135??? It was also stipulated in their contract that in case a rubber match is needed, it will be at 130. Even Bob Arum (Morales' promoter back then) knew that, and he can't do anything about it.

Mosley or Cotto at a catch weight is a strike for whom? Pacman??? Freddie is Manny's trainer, and a trainer's job is to protect his boxer, make sure his boxer is not at a disadvantage, and that's for all trainers out there, except Floyd Sr.

Just like what I suggested, same day weigh-in for either Sugar Shane or Miguel. If they can rehydrate to as much as 50 lbs. in an hour and a half, be my guest...

                  True....

He didn't look so hot against Raheem though either. And that was after he beat Manny and before Manny got to him again. I thought he moved up to 135 because 130 was just way to much work to make. Healthier for him to be at 135.

I still kind of think that the fight with Pac was like that quote from Larry Merchant from Cus D'Amato about an aging fighter can have one last great performance. That was the first fight.

The only thing I would blame Pac for would be that he goes along with his advisors who he trusts. Can't blame him for that sine they are part of the reason he is where he is today; but he will get some blame.

I do feel Pac really doesn't care who he fights and where he fights. Arum and Roach will though.

he doesn't really need to diet imo.

he blows up in between fights. i read before that he hired a nutritionist and start living healthier but the boricuas told me that's bs. he's still drinking and partying.

he has a fight coming up. if he just takes care of himself in between that fight and training camp (if pac is his next fight) he shouldn't have any problems. no need to diet. just get around to a healthy 155-160 and rehydrate 10-15 lbs. (which is the norm for boxers nowadays)

People like Freddie, and others who paid attention to history knew it would be a possibility. However, most didn't listen. I think now, or at least for the near future (since people have short memories), they will take note.
And, not sure anybody expected Oscar to do what he did with his weight loss. Showing up at 147 by fight-time....crazy. That was just over-board. If you are at WW, usually you show up at 10+ pounds over that when you are someone like Oscar. Floyd doesn't, but he isn't Oscar and the others.
That's why we have Autopsies. To see the cause of death because many may have not seen it coming.

Same day weigh-ins. I suggested this too and people said it wouldn't work. And I had the Floyd bashers say it was only because of Floyd even though I brought up Gatti-Gamache and backed it up with articles about the consequences of allowing fighters to rehydrate so much thus giving the possibility of two fighters at different weights by fight-time and leaving one fighter at a disadvantage.

So now you see, if they did have same day weigh-ins, Pac moves up to WW right next to Floyd. Cotto and Shane move up to MW.
