better than having him jump to welterweight.

    valero shouldn't even be mentioned.

arum just mentions valero because a pacquiao fight is in valero's contract when he signed with arum.

it has a clause of "unless pacquiao retires" though.

pac could retire 10 years from now and valero still not get a fight. lol

He's not the man, so he has to go to the MAN. If Valero wants the fight so badly, and Pacman will make his usual insane millions, then Valero might get the nod. That's the way of the world, and is always is. He, who has the gold, makes the rules...

only thing that matters is the official weigh in. the purpose of a catchweight is to limit how much cotto puts on after weigh in.
Or in other words; how healthy Cotto shows up.

            Hahahaha...

You do know when Floyd was an active WW he was showing up under 150, right?
He even fought Judah at 146 Fight-time weight.

If JMM were to fight Pac right now, he would be fighting a 147+ pound Pacquiao. How much is Floyd again (or at least was when active)?

That interview with Sr, if true, has Floyd walking around at 150 right now.

He showed up at 138 for the weigh-in vs. Hatton...so yes, if he wants to diet down 3 more pounds to make 135, maybe he could. Each pound to lose is tough though. He is absolutely shredded. Even 152 pounds at 6% body-fat is crazy.
But how would it affect him on fight-night at his point? He is used to the process of dehydrating his body and the rehydrating back up 10+ pounds but that could take its toll at some point.

He was 147 for Diaz and 148 for Hatton for fight-time weights. Roach does say that his target weight by fight-time is 147.
he wouldn't have to do any more than almost everyone else.

i do agree it'll take something out of him. i like him not having to cut weight. his power seems better and so is his stamina.

manny is lucky enough not to have to put on weight while moving up because of his speed which helps even things out. just like floyd.

other guys with no such speed advantagement would be at a disadvantage if they don't put on weight.

                  still , benny.

floyd has proven he can fight at 140 , 147 and even 154.

marquez has only fought at 135.

whether they come in the ring or not at around the same weight......it's still a mismatch.

You know the difference? Pacman is not interested in Valero, he's not that school bully who pounces on little children. He's more interested on those big brothers who's fighting for their little brothers.

and I'm not speaking for him when I said that, that's just solely my opinion. I wish I can say the same for Li'l Floyd...

Well he did beat up on a corpse {Oscar} and he did beat up on an Auschwitz prisoner in Morales...

And if he wants Shane or Cotto to come down in weight, that is another strike.

Better to fight "healthy" fighters or don't fight them at all.

If Velero wants to move up, I have no problem with that.
