Calzaghe on the other hand has. And this isn't to bash Joe C, he was a great fighter, maybe a bit too protected but overall he clearly had talent otherwise he wouldn't have retired undefeated. Hatton took everyone on besides Junior Witter, and seriously who cares about Witter? He ducked him, but who gives a damn. Witter is Lord of the Dance, haha.

Of course he had talent but so had Ricky. The difference is Ricky Hatton took on two p4p PRIME fighters, Joe Calzaghe didn't (still didn't prevent him from being dropped in the first round vs his two most famous opponents, both 40 and over). Imagine what a Manny Pacquiao would have done to Joe once he got up from that first KD, it's not very hard. I don't think Joe Calzaghe is more talented than Ricky Hatton, smarter? Yes, he understands what's boxing's all about today and he played it to perfection. But still i like Ricky allooot better because he has guts and took on who people wanted to see him against, Floyd and Manny, the two best fighters in the world at the time. You can't top that with victories over the 40 year old versions of Hopkins and Jones.

ricky can still have a few good fights left imo. he won't beat the best p4p of the sport, but he can get a few straps, and have some good wars that the fans will love. he is great for the sport.

Go up to 147 Ricky!. We have a fighter there that would be happy to put you out of your misery... for good

I know he could and I agree with you. The whole point of him fighting Mayweather and Pacquiao was to be P4P the best fighter in the world, and he lost in both matches by KO. I greatly admire and respect Hatton, but it saddens me to watch people who have achieved success, wealth, fame, and admiration to throw it all away for stubborn and obstinate pride. He will never be the P4P best, but so what! Who cares? The man did EVERYTHING else. Now he's going to risk embarassing himself and losing to somebody who can't hold his jock strap for what, an inability to accept defeat by the two best fighters of our era? This is absolutely ridiculous! I understand his pride and fighter's heart, but cmon Ricky. This is how GREAT fighters become washed up has beens, and regarded as such. Call it a day, please!

I agree. It's hard to fault a guy who lost both his fights to arguably the best boxers in the sport. I would like to see him continue to fight.

Which proves absolutely nothing. Hatton has said on many occasions the whole reason he continued to fight was to be the P4P best, and he lost. Twice. This is bordering on absolute absurdity now. All the Paulie Malignaggi-esque victories in the world aren't going to avenge these losses or make his final dream of being regarded the best in the world come true, so what's the point?
