Lets See. Two brilliant counter punchers meeting each other in the squared circle.

You won't need any sleeping pills that night...

It has the potential to be ok, but Floyd is not a risk taker and Marquez will be weary over the size of Floyd.

Either a 12 round decision or a cut stoppage by Floyd. Death by a 1000 right elbows.

      i don't think Pac/Cotto would do less than 50% of Pac/Mayweather

and you gotta take into consideration the boost in stock the Pac/Cotto winner will recieve
Exactly, the fact that Arum will get his cutt off of both fighters purses, makes this fight just as much, if not more doable.. being both fighters are under Arum.

They will look to be on the right from Marquez's perspective

But will Arum risk Manny on Cotto? Cotto has the potential to stop Manny. Then he Floyd fight is pretty much gone. Then Cotto can also pack his bags and bounce. It seems like it risk too much.

I'm afraid to say anything to you now...

              Pac-Floyd is a mega-event. Pac-Cotto is not a mega-event.

Consider this: for all the hype and discussion on this (and every) board, Hatton-Pac did much less than, say, Delahoya-Mayorga. Hatton -Pac did under 650K. If that is a "mega-event", then what was Floyd-Hatton (@ 915K)?

Now, if you are taking the "public marketing-y" approach (a la Taffet) , then yes. It is a mega-event. But in my reasoned, analytical mind, it is not.

Cotto didn't come close to selling out an arena in Vegas vs. Margarito. The stadium was 35-40% empty. In a heavily-hyped fight. Cotto and margarito (in a split-bill) set the record for the LOWEST rated WCB event ever.

Miguel Cotto sells ****. Other than the gate during the Puerto Rican Day weekend, he can't move paper. Verify.

It's not like putting Manny against Floyd isn't a risk?

Why not make the money with your own fighters... on top of that, Cotto and manny will only help make each other bigger by fighting each other, Im sure Arum wants his fighters to be as well known as possible

Good post and it's true. Yet, they can tangle by not getting a fight with Mayweather this year then perhaps Mayweather will never fight him..
This fight needs to happen this year IMO..

Im not comparing what Cotto sells compared to Oscar De La Hoya or Manny... But two great fighters can make for a mega event together.. Cotto-Pac will... Margarito didn't have the same acclaim, to make that fight.. Hardcore fans knew what it would be.
