Manny Pacquiao Won ONLY 4 Major Belts?

If that was the case they would have to count RJJ's WBC, IBF, WBO, WBA, and all the other **** he had at that weight. Case in point If you win one or all of the straps at the weight, that counts as 1 championship.Comment

Forget all the belt crap...
His win over prime Barrera is worth more than his win over Ledbadwadbadwa or his win over Diaz.
DLH had popularity from the start, so he was able offer a weak champion at SFW enough $$$ to fight him, and get himself an easy title that way. It's easier for big names to get ABC titles, but it doesn't tell the full story. You have to look at who they beat to win the belts.Comment

Barerra was the WBC champ at featherweight and when he took on Johnny Tapia who was the IBF champ for a unification bout, both titles were stripped...Barerra won, he then beat a good Kelvin Kelly before facing Pacquiao. Pacquiao beat the champ and deserves recognition for it. Ricky Hatton was at one time the IBF, and WBA jww champ, he never lost the belts, and if you trace it back further Kostya Tszyu was the IBF, WBA, and WBC champ, but he had to relinquish the WBA and WBC belts. He never lost them. He lost to Hatton....and Hatton never lost his belts by being beaten. Technically Pacquiao didnt win a "major" title because no sanctioning body had the fights outside the IBO, but he beat THE champ at featherweight and JWW, and no one can dispute that.Comment

Alphabelts and lineals are both significant.
Pacquiao for example is THE ONLY PERSON ever to have 4 linear titles - Flyweight, Featherweight, Junior Lightweight, Junior Welterweight.
That has got to mean for something.Comment

Linear champion >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>hand me down win a vaccant title champion.
Pacquiao is the only one EVER in history to accomplish 4 lineal titles. A harder feat than collecting alphabets in which he should have 6 if the real champion did not give it up before they got beat by pacquiao.Last edited by Alibata; 05-11-2009, 08:28 PM.Comment
