[QUOTE=Maestro USA;5264819][B]He was called past prime after the Lazcano fight by BBC, Skysports, Freddie Roach, Mayweather Jr., and most of his diehard fans as well.

People only got positive thinking about his career again when he teamed up with Mayweather Sr.

Here's a list of fighters who were called past prime before Pacquiao fought them.

        Morales
        Oscar De la Hoya
        Hatton
        Barrera (rematch)

shut up moron!!!!!!!!!!!.........hatton said before the fight the manny has never fought fresh, ferocious and agressive as he is....now u were talking that he is past of his prime????

I agree completely. Hatton's style of fighting inside the ring is never one for longevity(ask Gatti), and he certainly did not help himself with his binging and ballooning in weight over the entirety of his career. Fact is, gaining and losing weight in rapid fashion depletes the water fluid inside the skull, and when you dehydrate in massive fashion your ability to take shots to the head is incredibly weakened. This is not an excuse premade for Hatton, rather this is sensible logic towards ANY fighter who is weight drained and doesn't lose the weight/rehydrate in correct fashion. Kerry Kayes and Billy Graham both illustrated this fact in their postfight comments, citing Hatton looked excessively drained and gaunt, and that he was in much better shape in his prior fights.

Hatton had a great career and I admire him for his accomplishments, but every fighter has the end of their career and it's time for the Hitman to call it a day.

Lots of fighters have been knocked cold and suffered no long term effects. Maurice Hope's knock-out by Benitez was much worse than Hatton's, and his long term health wasn't affected. The fighters who got Parkinson's or slurred speech or similar disabilities mostly took prolonged beatings, which Hatton never has. I still think he should retire though, but not for that reason.

This is a fact. Prolonged beatings are what give you a much greater risk of developing pugilistic dementia, aka Parkinson's. Look at Freddie Roach and Muhammad Ali, both guys who fought longer than they should have and took considerable beatings for years and years.

I don't know, Hatton has taken some heavy shots in fights like the Collazo one, Tszyu and Mayweather.

Even fights like Thaxton, Magee and Vince Phillips Hatton has taken alot of big shots.

I think he should be one and out really, I don't understand people who say his punch resistance hasn't diminished, that alone I think suggests he should look at wrapping it up, surely?

Why does everyone keep saying that hatton should retire, I don't get it. He's only 30 yrs old, just like pacman. He's still pretty good, it's just that pac is on a so much higher level.
