Hopkins has better defense and counter skills than tarver and look at how well tarver managed to stay afloat. I dont care about tarver's rep of having better perfomances in his rematches. Bottom line is that hopkins whooped him.
Hopkins had enough power to wobble tarver.
Dawson doesnt look like he can keep the pressure on anyone, and @ lhw i dont think he's got the one punch power to end fights.

Maybe dawson is the kind of fighter that can rise to the challenge, but the tarver fight did nothing to make me think he's a challenge for either hopkins or calzaghe.

People are getting way too down on Dawson.

The guy is only 25/26 and has already beat Tarver x2, Johnson, and virtually shut out an undefeated Adamek.

He also beat the tough Eric Harding in his first fight at light heavy, and the Adamek win is looking better every day.

I mean, how impressive did Calzaghe look against Hopkins or even Bika.

Dawson has been fighting world class fighters every fight and has been winning by comfortable margins.

You can't really ask more of him.

He's strong, fast, and puts his punches together well. His defense is also improving every fight and he is getting a lot of experience. He also fights back when his opponents start to pour it on.

I would pick him over anyone at this time, and I think it would be smart money.

Dawson gets no respect from me until he grows some balls and tangles with Glen a second time. In the post-fight interview of the first fight with Karen Bryant he just took off with his belt like a petrified rabbit. He didn't even entertain the thought of a rematch. If you like olympic boxing then you probably scored the fight for Dawson because he wasn't landin anything effective and Glen was blocking a ****load of his punches. I wouldn't have hard feelings against Chad if he just ****** it up and gave Johnson another shot. Hell, Berto catches a lot of flack for not rematchin Collazo but at least he didn't just flat out say no on camera like Dawson did. One last thing too, it's a known fact that Showtime doesn't show punchstats like HBO does at the end of a fight because if it did I'll bet you that a whole lot more people would of thought that Johnson got robbed.

I was rooting for Johnson when he fought Dawson the first time, cause I felt like he was the underdog and I thought he didn't do enough.

He came on strong at the end, but I thought he clearly lost by a couple of points. A draw would have been generous imo.
