styles make fights which is why Tarver gave Dawson some problem. Tarver is long and has good power. That could create problems for a lot of boxers. Against someone like Calzaghe who would just bull rush him and throw 1,000 slaps. Dawson would have great success countering during the fluries. Plus he is not 40 years old and would have the stamina to keep up with the constant pressure.

No he wouldn't he gassed last night against a 40 year olf Tarver that had a horrible work-rate, and fought in spurts.

I don't think he trained hard enough for Tarver. He probably thought it would be another cake walk. Which in all reality it wasn't much different than the first fight. To base his performance last night on what he would do against Calzaghe is foolish. He would definately be in top shape, and as I said styles make fights.

Joe would make a BIG statment beating him. For HOP it would be a GREAT retirement fight! He has a SOLID record and with each fight he will only get better...
A win against Chad Dawson is hardly a "BIG" statement. So far he hasn't impressed me greatly as a fighter. He has no fan base. Where's the interest - apart from here?

I mean, if we were talking about some kind of suped-up Ray Leonard or even a LH version of Nigel Benn - THAT would be a BIG statement. Right now Chad Dawson is little more than a promising contender.

Contenders don't have multiple title wins, champions due! And how does a good champ become a great champ if the so called greats won't fight him! Get a clue, the kid is the truth if he wasn't people would be lining up to fight him just like carl froch. What would Bernard prove by beating him? And joe has no fan base either! And a win against a legit champ in his prime would do wonders for his so called legacy! Undefeated does not at all prove greatness!

Yes, Dawson is a champion - but he isn't a "BIG" fighter. He's a contender.

And joe has no fan base either!
Let me know the next time Dawson fills a 55,000 seat arena.

Hopkins ain't fighting Dawson cause he will fight Tito. Hopkins would still beat Dawson, though.

It's the same priciple, you can't make it big till a bigger fighter actually fights. Who was joe b4 more well known fighters decided to fight him and raise his profile. I'll see it your way and say this, Contenders need champions to fight them to allow them to prove if they can be big fighters! And I meant an American fan base, no disrespect to his home fans. But even with that, let joe fight him in wales, take the lion share of the money and let young contender see if he is worthy

I'm no Calzaghe fan by any stretch of the imagination but if he came back out of retirement he'd ****in own Dawson.

I honestly dont think hopkins will fight dawson, plain and simply because he probably sees him as the only guy who could possibly beat him and retire him. Dont think b-hop is scared of him he's just gonna be smarter about it at this point of his career.
