No dude i'm not comparing them to Dawson. Im saying if he refused to fight the best, i'm pretty sure he is not going to come out of retirement for someone like Dawson.

BTW, his bout against RJJ was not about a Payday, he was going on about "look at me, i beat RJJ" etc.

Joe C would mop up Dawson, and I don't like either of em.

        who cares what he said

he couldn't have exactly gone "yeah i just beat up an old man for money. i knew exactly how it was gonna play out because he's well past it. feels good man"

everyone knows to take what boxers say with more than a couple pinches of salt. or at least i hope they do by now

This was one of this excuses for not fight dawson and froch I think

"Ive beaten bernard hopkins, roy jones jr, legends"

          Or summin like that.

But you cant tell these calzaghe snouts anything, Manfredo is a draw when it suits them, Kessler is the best fighter on earth when it suits them, Joe doesn't need to fight anybody because he would wins anyway so there is no point, Hopkins asking for more money to fight calzaghe= hopkins ducking, calzaghe pulling out of 2 fights with Glen Johnson costing his promoter money, then fighting someone completley different is another story.

Joe calzaghe doesnt want to risk it, just cares about a '0'. ill post the f.ucking quote from him in 2003 saying he wouldn't want to risk fighting roy jones unless he got paid the 'crown ***els'.

I would of had no problem seeing Calzaghe fight Pavlik or Dawson instead of Roy Jones Jr.
He would have outpointed both of them to a very comfortable UD.

I like the fact Dawson and his fans call out Calzaghe because they know he is obviously retired, yet not the current top light heavy in the world Bernard Hopkins, who is still an active fighter.

like i said, take what he says with a pinch of salt. he's a bit too involved to be able to step back and judge his career objectively

and i'm pretty sure you'll never hear half of that stuff coming out a fan's mouth. it's mostly in your head mate.

and the "Joe doesn't need to fight anybody because he would wins anyway so there is no point" argument is so silly. It's a boxing message board; we're here to speculate what-if's... stating that you reckon he could have beaten Dawson is hardly the same as giving him credit for what he hasn't actually done

F.ucking hell mate, I just wanna see fighters fight the fighters they are supposed to fight, I dont wanna hear from these skirt-wearing possums, slagging off fighters that take risks, when their guy is one of the biggest excuse makers in boxing.

Bottom line is, Dawson has fought some good opposition and could possibly get better as a fighter, the minute someone can combat Joe calzaghe's workrate, it will be interesting to see what he has left after that, Dawson might have the style to combat that workrate, that's why people want to see the fight, Dawson is still seen by some as the light heavy champ, he spanked the guy who is cruiserweight champ so he has some pedigree.

F.uck all this 'calzaghe would beat dawson so he shouldnt fight him' ****, just f.ucking excuses, if he can beat dawson and knock out carl froch in 3 rounds like he said he could, then he should get the f.uck back in the ring and stop fighting 39 year olds on their way out of the sport, when in his own book he calls them finished and says he would never fight them.

                  Calzaghe: master boxer
                  Dawson: prospect
