gambler,Yea that is a lot of PPV buys they have to do, 600k buys is $30 million, so to cover all other expenses it would have to do quite a bit better then that. I figured they would split up about $20 million, but hey whatever though if they got it good for them HBO seems to have a lot of faith in Mr. Mayweather (Larry Merchant excluded of course).
you aren't taking into account three other revenue sources:
1) gate
2) site fee
3) endorsementsComment

Like I said I was expecting the purses combined to be about $20 million. Which would bascially put anything over 500k as a success, they seem to be thinking on a different scale then I am, or there are other revenue streams for this fight I am unaware of.Comment

Special to The Press-Enterprise
With his arms crossed confidently Floyd Mayweather Jr. smiled smugly as the cameras flashed inside the lounge theater of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
"You all know you missed me," said Mayweather, 32, before a throng of reporters.
That was early Saturday. Later that night, the smaller Manny Pacquiao decimated the bigger Ricky Hatton in two rounds. It took Mayweather 11 rounds to do the same thing to Hatton back in December 2007.
Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) returns to the ring at a 143-pound maximum against the smaller Juan Manuel Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs), of Mexico, as his first opponent in 20 months on July 18 at the MGM Grand. It's the former pound-for-pound king against Marquez, who normally fights at 135 and currently is considered the best or near the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today.
Watching the scene was Oscar De La Hoya, whose Golden Boy Promotions is co-promoting the event along with Mayweather Promotions and Marquez Promotions.
You saw what Manny Pacquiao did to me. Marquez fought Pacquiao twice and went the distance. What does that tell you?" said De La Hoya, who is in promotion mode now. "Mayweather is a great boxer, but Marquez is a great boxer, too. And he has a good chin."
De La Hoya said the century-old axiom that a good big man beats a good little man is over as his last loss to Pacquiao proved.
"You just saw Juan Manuel Marquez beat Joel Casamayor and knock him out. Then he fought Juan Diaz, a good young fighter, and knocked him out, too," De La Hoya said. "People are going to be surprised at how good Marquez really is. He can beat Mayweather."
For months rumors swirled that Mayweather was back in the gym sparring almost weekly. Calls to Leonard Ellerbee, who serves as the CEO for Mayweather Promotions, were largely ignored. And when he answered it was to say that Mayweather is retired and wants to stay retired.
Apparently it was all a fabrication to lead up to this event.
No money figures were announced, but according to some sources Mayweather could make more than $20 million for the fight with Marquez getting more than $10 million. It's much more than the Mexico City fighter has ever made.
Marquez, who is usually stoic, smiled much more than usual though it still wasn't for more than three minutes. At 35, he admitted only dreaming of participating in a fight of this magnitude and prestige.
"I'm very happy about this coming event. When I called Mayweather out I only hoped he would accept," said Marquez, talking about his post-fight television comments after the Diaz fight in March. "People who knew Pacquiao told me that he would never fight me again. So I felt that challenging Mayweather was my other choice, and here we are."
Later that night, following the news conference, Pacquiao fought Hatton and quickly obliterated him in less than six minutes. Once again the smaller man beat the bigger man.
Marquez watched the event in one of the seats given to him by De La Hoya. As he watched the ending you could see a trace of a smile on the Mexico City fighter.
"I never dreamed I would be fighting for this much money when I was younger," Marquez said. "I just wanted to be a champion and fight the best."
On July 18 he gets the best of both worlds.
MOSLEY STRIKES OUT
Sitting at the post-fight news conference for Pacquiao and Hatton was Pomona's Sugar Shane Mosley, who was seeking a match from the winner of the junior welterweight title fight.
Mosley attempted to coerce a contest with Pacquiao but was shot down vocally by Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes the Filipino star. Instead, the Las Vegas boss wants Pacquiao to fight Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto should he emerge victorious against Joshua Clottey in June. Or fight lightweight world titleholder Edwin Valero, of Venezuela.
Mosley had been told by Pacquiao that a match was possible.
BIG REMATCh
IBF and IBO light heavyweight titleholder Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KOs) defends his titles against Antonio Tarver (27-5, 19 KOs) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Saturday in Las Vegas. It's a rematch of their fight that took place last October.
Tarver claims that he was lacking in his preparation and vows to avenge his first loss that included a knockdown. It was an underwhelming performance and propelled Dawson to be considered one of the top fighters in the world.
The rematch was originally scheduled to take place in March, but Dawson suffered an injury to his wrist during training.
Also on the card is New York City's Melissa Hernandez, who many consider one of the top skilled female boxers today. Her only loss came to Las Vegas' Layla McCarter. Now Hernandez faces Jeri Sitzes, a tall former kick boxer who has made a good transition into boxing.
It should be a good night for boxing.
fight results
Urbano Antillon (26-0, 19 KOs) knocked out Tyrone Harris (23-5, 15 KOs) at 2:53 of the fifth round of their lightweight clash at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Saturday. Harris was dropped earlier in the round by a body shot.
Alfonso Gomez (19-4-2, 9 KOs) returned to the ring after losing to Miguel Cotto a year ago and stopped Juan Buendia (14-3-1) with a left hook to the liver in the eighth round of their welterweight bout.Comment
