That many of Pacquiao's wins came against guys who were not at their peak.

That's not so common in Whitaker's record.

Pernell is a great fighter but this fight with Pac will fall in coulda, woulda, shoulda category if you know what I mean.

Manny is simply amazing people now. The way he's won fights; he's a jaw dropper. His wins over Barrera in the first fight, Morales in the rematches, Diaz, Oscar and Ricky left people amazed. And he will continue to amaze us. This, together with his sustained quality level of opposition, multiple division championships and the fact that he's come all the way up from 106lbs as a pro make him an ATG and put him above Whitaker IMO. Don't get me wrong, Whitaker is one of the very best there was, but he was a great DEFENSIVE boxer and even on the list of ATGs that can only get him so far. Manny's pure aggression and ability to hurt and destroy great fighters in dominating fashion give him the edge when ranking the two fighters.

Definitely Whitaker in my opinion. Whitaker is top 20; Pac more like top 40

I hate putting down present day fighters...especially Pacquiao, the guy is an outstanding fighter, and we as boxing fans are extremely fortunate to get to see him fight.

but I think that his offensive abilities havent got exponentially better, its more that hes lately been fighting guys that have been made to order for him.

its like how Hopkins went up against Calzaghe(a faster fighter) and looked old, but then turned around and looked years younger against Pavlik. Hopkins didnt actually change, he just looked a lot better against someone that he could read like a book.

that being said, even though I predict wins for Pacquiao, he is constantly still shocking me with his dominant wins and amazing offensive showcases. His wins are undeniable, and his performances are often jaw dropping.

cant believe people are actaully comparing MP to PW. are you kidding me?

people are simply brainwashed over MP's wins who over hatton and DLH. which means nothing

they were beaten fighters past their prime. at the hands of PBF
