In terms of weight, moving up several weight divisions is nothing new. Mosley jumped from 135 to 147. Bernard hopkins went from two losses to jermain taylor at 160 to 175 where he beat antonio tarver. Mayweather went from 130 to 135, fought two fights against jose luis castille, moved up to 140, fought three times and moved up to 147. Roy jones went from 175 to heavyweight and beat john ruiz. Years before him, michael spinks went from 175 to heavyweight and beat undefeated champion larry holmes twice in a row. And, last but not least, pacquaio fought one fight at 140 before moving up to fight de la hoya at 147.
your right moving up in weight is nothing new but its easier for a someone with a bigger frame n under 36 to do it without being at a big disadvantage. All the names u mentioned except for pac had bigger frames than jmm. Jmm has fought 90% of his career under 130 and only has about 5% left. A natural 126 pounder will be fighting a natural 147 pounder period. Gay jr was a young 28 when he jumped up to welter, jmm is close to 36. Like most of his big fights, gay jr will have a huge advantage in some way, in this case not only in weight but also in reach and youth. This coward just doesnt know what the meaning of risk and courage is.

I guaranteed that TEAM PACQUIAO is gonna watch that fight, dissect it and when MARQUEZ/PACQUIAO 3 happens, its not gonna last 12 rounds MARQUEZ will get KO the F%CK out and MANNY will say WELCOME TO THE PHILIPPINES!!!
lol what ****ing fight were you watching?? all i saw was marquez kept counterpunching diaz all fight long sure diaz got in there so fast it reminded me of vargas against dlh. But he was getting countered badly if you had diaz winning clearly then you must be ****ing blind. Remember they fought in texas so it makes you question the scores. So youre gonna say juarez beat chris john also when he clearly lost and they gave him a tie because he was in his hometown.

Will you be so ****ing proud when pac beats a 37 year old boxer who gave him so much problems and beat him twice?? how long has he been avoiding him?? what is he like 5 or 6 years older than him right? imagine if marquez was younger your boy will get much worser beating.

I won't think so because pacquiao is not a counterpuncher like Juan is and his defense is not as great as pacquiao he would get hit much more than marquez

          Don Jose Is Nuts

Don Jose should retire, he is offending not only his own countrymen by saying that Maywetaher is great and Marquez is good, but also offending the real boxing fans. Everyone knows Mayweather ducked many fighters, everyone knows he hugs and runs half the time, he cherry pucks oponents, etc. I admit tha Marquez is too small for Mayweather, and that would be his handicap, he will probably be Koed, but Marquez is the typical Mexican fighter, will go toe to toe, without hugging, with a lot of heart and pride. Mayweather, even though he will be the bigger men, will still hug, run, push, even if he is winning. He was never p4p in my opinion.

before anyone get seriously hurt, and the entirety of boxing for that matter, it should be made mandatory for any fighter who wants to jump to higher weight class to fight atleast 2 fights in his present weight class, and allow 1 weight class at a time. they should make it clear which term do they want to uphold, the term "prizefighter" or an "athlete".

This is a silly article. JMM fought lightweight twice which is at 135 not 130 like the article indicates, and has looked great. He knocked out a good lineal champ AND a young lion that many considered the best in the division. He's done what he needed and is moving up slightly over one weight class. JMM is a great smart fighter and fighting PBF at this weight isn't a huge deal. This fight will go the distance and won't be a blood and guts battle, but a calculated wait and strike fight between the two. IMO however youth prevails in this one and PBF takes the decision.

i want to see pac-marquez fight(if pac wins) before pac-floyd..
but it turns on the other way around..

seems like we never gonna see pac-marquez III
                  if marquez lost against floyd.

MP-JMM would only sieze the noise around their fights..
though marquez had a less chance ryt now, coz
pac is lot different boxer than their 2nd bout and too far
                  in the draw bout..

at the end of the day,
its still pac who gonna win whoever he fights.. ^_^V

coz imo pac has the greatest chance to outshined and shut FMs mouth..

its not that im saying marquez has no chance of floyd..
he dont lack on skills, but as sulaiman said they are way
                    different in division..

He's undersized, over powered and out matched in almost every category you can think of.

I hate to say this because JMM is one of my favorite fighters all time but I think he was trying to get the rematch with Pac, that didn't go through and he understands he's 36 years old and he wants one last payday.

He's fighting Mayweather to get one last payday IMO, unless Nacho is seeing something I don't, this is a huge missmatch.
Hell yeah, even though JMM is doing it for the money he got some guts. Floyd can really hurt his ass.
