Say they fought at 135 which is Pernells natural weight, and a very good weight for Pacquiao also, Pernell would take a wide unanimous decision. Even at junior welter or welterweight Whitaker takes the cake. He has the best defense ever in boxing and he was fast as hell too. If pacquiao cant land his hard blows which he couldn't he would lose badly.

I don't see Pernell as a WW. He was able to be effective at the weight sure but IMO he was without a doubt a natural 135 pounder. He was certainly at his absolute best at that weight.

he's in the same boat as pacman and fought dlh in his prime when he was much older and still almost won that fight. he proved he could take a punch at that weight as well (which manny has not.. not his fault though) i take prime pernell by UD.
