I hear this all the time. "Hatton did not follow the gameplan"

This is all a crock of sh|t and here is why. Hatton is a brawler, it is in his blood. You cannot do anything to change that. Floyd Sr. and Ricky should have known this also.

Roach was 100% correct in saying that as soon as Ricky got hit, he will revert to what he has always done in the ring. Being a brawler is Hatton's biggest strength. It is what got him the belts, the fame, and the money.

If anything, having Floyd as his trainer was the worse decision Hatton could have ever made. A trainer is supposed to work with your strengths, and not try to rebuild from scratch.

              You're right,
I watched the fight again before I logged in... Sr was making those instructions, sadly Ricky can't hear it coz he's still in shock... he just came up from a knockdown seconds ago... there's too many things going on Ricky's mind at that time to hear what Sr is saying.

They also trained mainly to slip the left hand. I have been saying for months on here that the right hand will be a huge factor. Even I see this and I'm just a normal boxing fan, yet these "pro's" miss it? They are goons.

Yet another opponent underestimates Pacquiao, just like Oscar, and pays dearly for it.
No. They saw it. I specifically remember FMS talking to Ricky about keeping the left hand up. They also talked about throwing the combo and 'setting a trap" for Manny when he ducks around. This was WAAAAY before last week's 24/7.

However, everything was predicated upon Ricky, er, um, keeping his frikkin hands up.

Side note: Oscar didn't underestimate Pac. He brought in 2 top trainers and did all kinds of wacky ****. He was just very ill prepared and used poor training/nutritional techniques.

The irritating thing about Floyd Sr is that he believes he's the best of the best of trainers out there. But often shows up late at Ricky's training camp.

and the BS statement from Floyd Sr... "Ricky Hatton will win...because I am the best".

Roach was right, the 24/7 was about Manny and Ricky but he keeps making it "Floyd Joyd Mayweather Sr 24/7"

The difference between somebody like Ricky and Tim Bradley:

Ricky got hurt, and made zero adjustments.
Bradley got slobber-knockers by a vicious left hook, and then plastered his glove to his cheek for the rest of the fight.

He is just an A-/B+ fighter. That lack of ring intelligence keeps him from the top. He isn't elite.

Floyd wanted Ricky to brawl. That was the gameplan. But he wanted him to get inside while MINIMIZING the punches eaten.

How is improving defense - for any fighter EVER - a bad thing?
