Even though the fights are hard to call JMM was knocked all over the ring by Pac so i'd still have to give him the edge + we haven't seen Floyd in a while for all we know he might not be the same as he was.
It doen't take long to fall off.

add to that that Marquez has come off two better wins than Pacman's last two and arguably beat Pac himself before that, JMM has to be number one

there is no bigger accomplishment in boxing right now than beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. ... to beat him you have to be really special
      I see it differently.

Marquez's win over Diaz is impressive, yes. Casamoyer, not so much in my opinion. If Pac beats Hatton he trumps both AND he is 1-0-1 against Marquez himself, though both fights are admittedly close.

I don't think JMM is going to beat Floyd anyway, but even if he did he would have to beat Manny to get the top spot IMO.

Now if JMM won and Manny lost. No doubt that he's #1 under that scenerio.

So let me get this straight. If JMM were to beat PBF and Pacquiao were to beat Hatton you would have Pac man as the best pound for pound?

Absolutely. Pac holds a win over Marquez, and a win over Hatton would be another scalp of a p4p fighter. Floyd hasn't fought in almost two years. A win would be huge for JMM, but not enough to leap frog him over a guy who's already beaten him and hasn't lost since 2005.

i doubt Marquez will pull off the win too. but hypothetically speaking,

Juan Diaz (i will probably get flamed for this, but i personally feel the dude is just as good as Hatton, but just lacks name value)
                Joel Casamayor
                Floyd Mayweather

is clearly a superior line-up to

                David Diaz
                shot Oscar De La Hoya
                Ricky Hatton

if JMM beats Floyd it, to me, proves that Pacquiao is just a bad match up for him and he's actually the better all-round boxer

obviously it's subject to opinion but i feel The Ring would probably put him #1 if he beat Floyd too, for what it's worth

I agree 100 percent. I feel if JMM has a life and death struggle with PBF and wins by 1 point via split decision, and Pacquaio crushes Hatton in the first 5 rounds I would have JMM as p4p number one because Floyd is a much better fighter than Hatton, and anyone else around his weight classes.

PS. I agree with you and I think that Juan Diaz is just as good as Hatton.

c'mon man... hatton is a tougher fight than diaz... hatton is more physical and stronger and has more punching power than juan diaz.

casamayor is as shot as dlh.

beating floyd would be great for jmm, but pac still has 2 victories over jmm.

pac's still #1 even if jmm beats floyd.
