I think BJ Flores would be a softer opponent too than Godfrey, who's a solid, durable fighter with an excellent amateur background.
BJ is better than Godfrey in every physical category and had a better amatuer career than Matt. But, I think Matt likes fighting more, meaning his heart is into it. Which is the difference between obscurity and glory in the careers of so many talented fighters.

No, BJ is feather-fisted while Matt is a hard puncher.

Actually, at the risk of not picking, I would say Godfrey had the better amateur career...Matt won the big tournaments and beat more big names I think overall than BJ. Matt was a two-time U.S. Champin in two different weight classes and also won the NGG at 201, beating Devin Vargas in the process

What happened with the Herbie Hide fight or is that still a go? I thought that one was a title eliminator?

Sometimes the BUSINESS of boxing gets in the way of good fights happening and that's what happened withthe Hide fight...

TBA and TBD get a lot of fights these days against very good opponents

Originally, I thought Hide and Godfrey didn't fight because Godfrey was injured(postponed because of that) but Ice says it was a business issue.

I thought BJ took two national championships and Matt had the one. Did I confuse the two? if so my bad. I do vividly remember by kidneys hurting for days after attempting to spar Matt and I got buzzed by several of Flores' one twos that I swore I got out of the way of. I still think Flores has the better physical gifts, while Godfrey has more of a fighter's spirit in him. I know there was an offer ofr Flores to fight Godfrey in Providence a while back. Though it could've been a good fight.
