he's gotta beat pac and jmm and then either floyd/cotto/mosley...

    then I'd say hatton is p4p #1.

but 1 stipulation... hatton can't win it with a grappling/hugging style he's got to win with class and with real boxing skills.

Pac, then Marquez would be enough for me.

I don't otherwise give a **** about p4p, but IMO if he really wanted that spot he'd have to beat Pac, JMM, Floyd and Bradley to number 1. Then I'd say good on him.

But until that impossible event(s) happens, I often have a hard time even acknowledging him as the best guy at 140.

as i said before, if hatton beat Pac and then JMM only HATERS will not have him #1.

Looking at the thread title again...

How the **** does Hatton become p4p#1 even if he does beat Pac?

Makes me wonder how it suddenly changed to beating Pacquiao, Marquez, and Bradley.

If he were to beat those names you could certainly make a case for Hatton deserving the top spot or being very close to it, but take into account that two of those names are coming up from lower divisions. It takes some of the shine off an established 140lb fighter beating them. No matter what their P4P status says, they are two unproven fighters at 140 who haven't done anything there.

Another thing -- the return of Floyd Mayweather would certainly throw a spanner in the works. Since we're talking "WHAT IF", what if Mayweather fights and beats Marquez? If they fight, Floyd will win, you can pretty much bank on it. And if he does, I don't see Hatton fighting Marquez coming off a loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Bradley would be a solid win, but significantly less meaningful when you're talking about fighting the P4P #1 and #2.

So even if he does beat a former flyweight who is fighting for the first time at 140 (im not putting too much emphasis on DLH win) how does that make him p4p#1? Am i the only person who thinks he should beat the other champs at 140 first or at least Timothy Bradley before we even talk like that?
Hatton is way down the league at the moment. If he winshe moves a few steps up but not number one.He needs to constantly perform for him to get that title but he will never be number one.I dont think he has more than 5 fights left so how will he prove it?
