i chalk chin and tenacity up to toughness

without them i think he becomes a club fighter, albeit a very powerful one

his style is amateurish and he's a bit slow and clumsy. i'm not sure i agree with classing his counter-punching as quite 'excellent' either

I see it the same way too, he is exciting I'll give him that at least. I say if he keeps fighting the best in the division he loses his belt within 3 defenses tops.

I hear you. I don't attribute chin to being tough, however. Arturo Gatti's chin was mediocre at best but he was one hell of a tough fighter. Anyway, the one thing that impressed me in the Taylor fight was Froch's counterpunches--in fact, I was very impressed. He was just missing early on but eventually it paid off.

            fair point

i guess i need to rewatch the Taylor fight with my analysing head on, cos i didn't notice any exceptional counter punching on Froch's behalf

a lot of questions raised now (and the Taylor perfomance certainly did leave us with a few) will surely be answered for once and for all against Kessler, Pavlik, Bute or whoever he ends up fighting next though i suppose

I agree. I never felt Taylor's confidence was the same since Hopkins so it's hard to gauge how good a victory this is for Froch. Taylor used to be able to go into the later rounds without losing anything. Ever since Hops took him into deep waters and pretty much drowned him I suspect Taylor has always had that in the back of his head. Pavlik certainly didn't help things.
