Juan Manuel Marquez is a career featherweight

People keep saying Floyd will be fighting a lightweight.

But when JMM was Floyd's age, in fact up until a couple of years ago, he fought at 126. He's had most of his title fights at 126, not 130 or 135. In fact, the only reason he went up to 135 was to try to get a rematch with Pacquiao, although he's been very successful at that weight.

Floyd's natural weight at age 30 or so is 147. JMM's natural weight at the peak of his career was 126.

Floyd has every physical advantage: height, reach, and experience at 147. Floyd's fighting a much smaller man at welterweight, because he cannot make 135 anymore.

Since reaching full maturity, Floyd has been a natural welterweight.

Why won't he fight JMM at 135?

Exactly, and he didn't move up even to super featherweight (130) until he was older than Floyd is now.

And this one will be well above 140, at a weight carefully selected by Floyd.

                He can't make 135.

The better question, since Marquez wants to move to 140 and Mayweather can still make 140 (considering he is such a "tiny" welterweight, too "tiny" to fight any real welters according to his fanboy brigade), is why aren't they fighting at 140, where it makes sense for everyone?

Yes, that would be more respectable.
