I never understood why people take PBF claiming to be the best so personal. If you are an athlete at the professional level i'd imagine it's your goal to be the best, you might not think so but I'm sure Mayweather does and with good reason.Comment

wasn't ali put under the radar in all his career for claiming that since BEFORE he was a champ? it could marketing or whatever, but if you claim something that HUGE, you better back it up, marketing or not
floyd fans called marquez a ***** and a ***** for calling out floyd and not agreeing to fight him at 147, even though he clearly said 140 or a bit higher. why is marquez a ***** for saying things clearly and backing up what he said and floyd isn't for saying something even bigger and not backing it up?
if he wants to be the greatest of all time, he better start working hard for it. either fighting the best WW at 147 or going down in weight. he's not that big of a frame, so he could always go down to 140 and dominate there to sharpen up his legacy, BUT he has to prove his status at w/e weight he settles himself atComment

OK , smiles, if you claim to be the greatest of all tiimes, greater than Dempsey , Jack Johnson, Hey John L. Sullivan ever heard of him? Greater than Joe Louis , greater than Rocky Marciano WOW the GREAT ROCKY undefeated in 49 fights with 43 KO's, greater than the GREAT Sugar Ray Robinson, greater than Muhammed Ali , greater than the GREAT George Foreman, greater than the GREAT SUGAR RAY Leonard, {SRL pattled his daddy FMSR with his nice little shoulder roll and would have KO'ed yoreweather no doubt} greater than the Great Roberto Duran, than Ruban Olivears sp than Tommy Hearns ,{Hearns KO's yoreweather no problem} greater than the GREAT SALVADOR SANCHEIS sp , greater than the GREAT Alexis Arguao sp and a host of others in all weight divisions "THEN" you are gonna have to do something GREATER THAN WHAT THEY DID !!!!! YOREWEATHER has made that claim of being the greatest of ALLLLLLLLLLLL TIME !!!!!!!!!
THEY TOOK ON ALL COMERS, THEY DID NOT PICK AND CHOOSE, THEY DID NOT SPEND OUR TIME FIGHTING BUMS UNLESS THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS ########## L E F T ########### !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Duriing yoreweathers last several fights he fought a washed out Gatti, and Baltomir who? and chicken dance Judah ??? Who has chicken dance Judah beaten???? Was it Kosta, was it Cotto, was it Clottey???? Then fights a fading De la Hoya,,,,,,,,,,who ONLY need to throw a couple of jabs and win easily ???
He IS a spoiled brat and he's chicken "poc poc poc" til he proves differently that he is more than an elite fighter, skills don't PROVE IT, its HEART with SKILLS that PROVE he is among the greats. Its taking on all comers not hiding behind lightweights !!!!!! He is PROVING TO ME HE HAS NO HEART BY FIGHTING JMM AND NOT TAKING ON THE BEST IN THE WELTER WEIGHT DIVISION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT he is doing is a "DISGRACE"!!!!!!!!! IF HE WERE GREAT, WILLAMS WOULD BE NEXT , OR MOSLEY THEN WILLIAMS OR COTTO OR CLOTTEY ETC........ NO NO HE HAS TO FIGHT A LIGHTWEIGHT ,,,,,SIC,,,,,,,,,WHO WILL BE NEXT ?????PACMAN WILL BE NEXT,,,,,,,ANOTHER SMALLER MAN AND YOREWEATHER WILL BE DOING ALL HE CAN TO GET THE FIGHT AT 147 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL HE IS ABOUT IS THE BIGGEST PURSE NOT GREATNESS !!!!!!!

if it truly is his goal, he wouldn't retire at his best moment, just to come back to fight marquez. he needs to fight the best AT HIS CURRENT WEIGHT CLASS if he wants to be the best and acomplish "his goal"
if he doesn't want to, then go down to 140 and beat the best there. there's always that optionComment

It seems like he's got alot to prove to you but he is undefeated over several weightclasses, I'm not saying he's the best ever, but he's worked hard enough in his career to consider himself that, you can take anyone whom history considers an all time great and they'd fall short to someone else's standard depending on their opinion. I agree that Floyd could do alot to cement his legacy further but you make it seem like he's accomplished nothing, which is not the caseComment

Dave, All of us know he's not the greatest of all time. Neither is Ali but no one argues that point. Its just when it comes to Mayweather all these haters (u not included) want him to beat everyone. They mention SRL as an all time great but never mention how he DUCKED Aaron Pryor or how Jack Johnson refused to fight black fighters after he became HW champ.Comment

i've never said that. i've praised his skills, as he's proven them at other weight classes. BUT, he hasn't proven anything at 147, and if he wants to stay at his current level, he may keep doing what he's doing, but in many's eyes, that man on your avatar is better than floyd legacy-wiseIt seems like he's got alot to prove to you but he is undefeated over several weightclasses, I'm not saying he's the best ever, but he's worked hard enough in his career to consider himself that, you can take anyone whom history considers an all time great and they'd fall short to someone else's standard depending on their opinion. i've never doubted him as the most skilled boxer if this current generation. he has the tools to beat anyone at 140 and 147, but he seems more focused on making money than just beating everyone considered top at 147 (his current weight)Comment

Ali is plain and simple greater than Floyd. And a fair amount of people do believe him to be the GOAT
that's not true. maybe one or two idiots said that (most likely trolling for reaction) but they don't speak for all Floyd fansfloyd fans called marquez a ***** and a ***** for calling out floyd and not agreeing to fight him at 147, even though he clearly said 140 or a bit higher. why is marquez a ***** for saying things clearly and backing up what he said and floyd isn't for saying something even bigger and not backing it up?
I have a great deal of respect for Marquez, he is the true embodiment of a warrior and has amazing technique to boot.
he has already proven himself to be a great. a momentous achievement for anyone but Floyd it seemsif he wants to be the greatest of all time, he better start working hard for it. either fighting the best WW at 147 or going down in weight. he's not that big of a frame, so he could always go down to 140 and dominate there to sharpen up his legacy, BUT he has to prove his status at w/e weight he settles himself at
proving himself to be the greatest is simply an impossible task and frankly one that it appears only his detractors expect of himComment

IMHO it seems like he wants to cement his legacy by taking back his p4p status by taking on my #1 p4p fighter in JMM, this will be by no means an easy fight and again at least in my opinion it will do alot to cement his legacy. You're right he could work to prove he's the best ww, but honestly i dont see very many ww who could beat him. what i'm very interested in seeing is who comes out on top cause by the end of the year the 3 best p4p fighters in the world would have stepped in the ring with each other.i've never said that. i've praised his skills, as he's proven them at other weight classes.
