I kind of agree with you... right now Ward is Froch's mandatory, and will obviously stay that way if he beats Miranda... and IIRC Froch has to take another mandatory in his next fight, per WBC mandate since he won a vacant title.

But if Miranda wins, I doubt he will be in line for a title shot just yet, and he's been DYING to get at Taylor for a long time. A winnable fight for both guys, but I'd favor Taylor as long as he defends himself as well as he did against Froch (for the first 10 rounds at least).

Manfredo is moving down to MW, which is the best for him. I don't think Taylor would ever take that fight anyway... not much of a challenge for him the way I see it. Would probably be his first KO victory in ages. He actually beat Manfredo twice in the amateurs, stopping him once.

Taylor would be wise to wait on a rematch. Besides, it's not happening next anyway. Froch's team will be looking elsewhere.

After reading Jesse "I'm too big for my britches" Brinkley spout off how he should be fighting the best in the division, I think Taylor should fight him next.

Brinkley thinks he deserves big fights, and Taylor needs a tune-up fight... why not take it against someone whose mouth needs to be shut? It's the perfect fit.

JESSE BRINKLEY CALLS OUT CARL FROCH AND JEFF LACY

World ranked super middleweight Jesse Brinkley watched with interest this Saturday night as Carl Froch came from behind with seconds to go in the 12th and final round to stop former middleweight world champion Jermain Taylor and retain his WBC Super Middleweight title. The back and forth battle was broadcast live on SHOWTIME from the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

Said Brinkley, “It was a decent fight but the skill level for both guys was below average. Froch is a tough guy but his best defense is his great chin. Had Taylor been more aggressive he certainly would have stopped the fight in the third round.”

“Jermain has completely regressed in the last couple of years; it’s as if his confidence level in his own ability has been shot since the first Pavlik fight. Had I been fighting on Saturday night and had Froch hurt like that in the third, the fight would have been over.”

Froch was defending the WBC belt he had won via 12 round decision over Jean Pascal on December 6th.

Continued Brinkley, “I had heard so much hype about Froch and his skill set was very weak for a world class fighter. He just came after Taylor face first with looping punches.”

“I don’t know what Froch or his people have planned but if it’s a real fight he’s looking for, than I’m his guy. We can do it in Reno, the East Coast or in his backyard in England.”

The 32 year old Brinkley, 33-5-0 (22KO’s) is coming off a 12 round blood filled hammering of Joey Gilbert on February 14th. After breaking Gilbert’s nose in the fifth round, Brinkley proceeded to batter his elusive longtime local rival for the balance of the fight in front of a packed house of 7,000 at the Reno Events Center.

Said Brinkley, “Joey ran the whole fight, it doesn’t look like that will be a problem against Froch. I don’t think he moved his head or his feet the whole bout about Taylor.”

The Yerington born Brinkley, world ranked # 10 by the IBF, also commented on the current status of former world champion Jeff Lacy. “I got a tape of his fight with Otis Griffin, it was pathetic. Jeff was never that good and he’s been just a shell of his former self since he was rushed into the Calzaghe fight by his promoter.”

“I knocked out Griffin last year and from watching the tape, Lacy was given a gift decision, same as he got against Epifanio Mendoza last year before his fight with Taylor. Watching the Taylor/Lacy fight last year was absolutely painful.”

Added Terry Lane of Reno’s “Let’s Get It On” Promotions, “Look at the guys ranked ahead of Jesse, they almost all have losses in their last six fights while Jesse has kept winning over the same period. Taylor’s lost three of his last six. With the exception of Froch and Bute, everyone else has at least one loss. It’s not worth counting Andre Dirrell or Karoly Balzsay as their level of competition has been so weak.”

“Jesse can draw huge crowds here in Reno, but he’s just as willing to go anywhere and fight any of these guys. Lacy should actually be fighting Brinkley because Roy Jones is going to make him look worse than Calzaghe did.”

Taylor should make him be quiet and show Jessie how his skills haven't fallen to far from grace. It is a good tune up fight. I just hope JT doesn't retire because he was so close to becoming champion again.

Taylor won't get another immediate shot at a title, he will probably have a fight against the likes of Allen Green, Denis Inkin, Andre Dirrell or Sakio Bika. Hope it is Green or Dirrell, they would be very good fights. After that he should fight Bute if he doesn't get/want a Froch rematch.

Meanwhile Froch should fight Balzsay, easy fight for him with big reward. The bodies will be a problem though.

A contender he can KO to build his confidence. If not a contender a Pascal match would be interesting.

I would like to see a Froch rematch but Taylor isn't the guy who can call the shots. Froch is the champ end of.

Jean Pascal vs. Jermaine Taylor and Sakio Bika vs. Jermaine Taylor are both very interesting match ups..

If he needs a tune-up that has a "name" he could use Ricardo Mayorga

If the Crotch still hasn't found a fight with Kessler and co., then I say REMATCH.

for the other smw contender, a rematch with taylor might seem unfair, but personally its the fight i want to see. froch needs to come out and show hes got alot more about him than a big shot and zero defensive skills.

but yeah, think froch will fight someone else first, lose and then fight taylor again.
taylor will likely fight a bum like manfredo, as some have suggested.

i rly wish mora had fought taylor back when they agreed on it.
think mora would of given taylor a painful lesson in counterpunching lol
