I agree with you in regards to the fact that Froch's victory doesn't completely sit right with me either.

I wanted Froch to win beforehand, but the way Taylor boxed for 5 rounds, and how Froch looked pretty average until round 10, made me root for JT by the end. I desperately wanted him to make it out of the 12th still standing.

It's an interesting point about whether JT "deserved" to win, because how many times have we seen the skillful boxer school the pressure fighter for the majority of the fight, only to succumb to the relentless pressure by the end. ie Chavez vs Meldrick, Cotto vs Margarito etc. So it's difficult to say Froch didn't deserve it, when we have seen this scenario play out in boxing so many times before, and it's how Froch would have planned to have win.

But I just think Taylor lost the fight, rather than Froch win it. You could see the stamina issue coming up by the 6th round. If JT had decent stamina, Carl doesn't get back into the fight. By round 12, Taylor was just exhausted, I think most decent SMW could have knocked him out by then.

As for whether he can come back - I dunno. I would hope so, he's still got the talent, but at some point, you just have to stop saying "ah, if only he sorts him stamina out, he'll be great". If at 31, you haven't addressed the stamina issues, then it probably won't happen.

He's a wasted talent, IMHO. If stamina wasn't such a problem, I could see him beating Froch, Bute, even Kessler.

In all of Taylor's big fights he always gasses...If u can't work that out by this stage of your career its time to hang them up.

He showed all the attributes of an elite boxer. A great jab, a great defence, and great power. The only thing he lacked was the finish.

People calling for him to quit are wrong. Taylor still has a lot to offer boxing. The first thing he needs is a trainer who will teach him how to box intelligently in the later rounds. How to frustrate an opponent and tie them up. And instill in him a mentality that will get him through tough times.

For me personally, it was hard to see a fighter ready to start his career afresh, and lose his opportunity in the final moments. It was a fight he should have won, but somehow lost, even though in my eyes, he deserved to win. That's not to take anything away from Froch. He is a world class operator, and proved it by overcoming the odds, and snatching a victory from defeat. But he was second best for 90% of the fight, and that doesn't sit right with me.

So to anybody that says Taylors career is over, I will argue the opposite. He only needs a win over a big name like Roy Jones, and he is back in the title mix again. With the right training and mentality, he can get back to the top, and beat the Kessler's, the Froch's, and the Bute's of this world.
I agree with a lot of this statement, though there's some exaggeration in there. (90%?)

The one thing that stuck out though is the Roy Jones reference... Roy is shot to Hell.

Taylor did well but you'll always know he'll tire down the stretch.

It's been his biggest weakness his whole career. And with him getting older it won't change.

Any guy with enough heart and chin has a chance to finish Taylor late.

It's was evident against Hopkins and Wright. It's just that those guys don't go for the kill.

Jones is past shot to hell.

Seems like some people want to see Roy Jones killed in the ring..I just don't get it.
