Taylor looked great. He just has no business fighting at 168, he's too small and got beat by a comparatively inferior boxer who was just a much stronger man.

real champions win in clutch situations. taylor is a good boxer tho.

A round from being the SMW champion of the world.
      almost doesn't count

He embarrassed Froch, and made him look amateur at times.
froch is an amatuer and taylor lost to an amatuer.

He showed all the attributes of an elite boxer. A great jab, a great defence, and great power.
no, those are attributes of a regular boxer not an elite boxer.

The only thing he lacked was the finish.
taylor is lacking in stamina, heart, killer instinct, good technique, etc... taylor might grab a title in the future, but he'll never be a great boxer

People calling for him to quit are wrong.
imho, taylor got nothing left to prove (because he's a B- boxer right now). he just can't get over the hump and if he is financially set, he should quit boxing while he's still got some brain cells.

Taylor still has a lot to offer boxing.
      yeah, being a gatekeeper.

The first thing he needs is a trainer who will teach him how to box intelligently in the later rounds.
the problem isn't that he doesn't know how to survive and get on his bike... the problem is his stamina.

How to frustrate an opponent and tie them up.
manny steward probably already taught him this...

And instill in him a mentality that will get him through tough times.
you can teach somebody discipline, but you can't teach them the warrior mentality.

For me personally, it was hard to see a fighter ready to start his career afresh, and lose his opportunity in the final moments. It was a fight he should have won, but somehow lost, even though in my eyes, he deserved to win.
taylor deserved to lose. his stamina is poor and the pool he's working from is shallow.

That's not to take anything away from Froch. He is a world class operator, and proved it by overcoming the odds, and snatching a victory from defeat. But he was second best for 90% of the fight, and that doesn't sit right with me.
yeah, but that's boxing... maybe you should pick another sport?

So to anybody that says Taylors career is over, I will argue the opposite. He only needs a win over a big name like Roy Jones, and he is back in the title mix again.
true, you're only as good as your last fight, but rjj is shot. taylor should fight a couple bums to get his confidence back and test his stamina. taylor should forget about mega-fights for now.

With the right training and mentality, he can get back to the top, and beat the Kessler's, the Froch's, and the Bute's of this world.
all the tools are there, but no heart and no stamina. I dunno if you can train for that.

To answer the question, I believe Taylor should quit.
In a short space of time he gone from being one of HBO's marquee fighters. A man, they were paying multi-million dollars, and generally invested alot of money in as the belived he would be the next Superstar. Fast forward to today, he has been dropped from HBO, and probably earned about half the money he is accustomed too for the Froch fight, and has been KO'd twice by two non-elite fighters. Apart from this, Taylor by his own admission does not love boxing - he is a gifted athlete (minus his stamina) but he is not a fighter. He does not have the desire to really push himself to get back to the top, so why continue? he will likely be stopped again - even by Andrade who will walk him down the same way as Froch and Pavlik before him.
