D'Amato...

I'm guessing his personality. Tyson was the student and D'Amato the mentor. It may be a fear of wanting to continue to learn so you do what you are told and you don’t screw up or the teaching is over...and the fact that D'Amato's personality was of commanding respect. . D'Amato also stood up to Tyson and challenged him to a fight but Tyson laughed it off and walked away. RESPECT

With Atlas: Actually, there was an interview with Kevin Rooney about why Atlas was let go by D'Amato and it basically had to do with Mike saying he was going to find Atlas and kill him (right after the gun incident).
