The fact is, Freddie Roach (who did a great disservice to his fighter) prematurely stopped the fight! At the time when Juanma was already showing frustration and exhaustion. The next rounds (10th onward) are actually very crucial for Penalosa. He gave away several rounds for Juanma, to reach that point. It was than about to be his "moment" in the fight, when very suddenly, it was taken away from him.

For me, the fight only proved that Juanma is not after all that good, as they claim! Penalosa is BETTER!

he gave away all the round for juanma he wasnt going to win even if he knockdown juanma in the 10 and 11 and 12

I think Juanma has about 2-3 fights at this weight before he has to move up.
he said he is planning one more fight by the end of the year, if he cannot get it he is moving up to 126

No he wasn't rated #1 at any point in his career, but he was grossly underrated in the late 90's. The Ring Magazine had him an underrated bantam and the dream match was Peñalosa-Johnny Tapia.

Gerry didn't have much of an opportunity back then. Asian fighters didn't have as much exposure.

First of all I'm going to give all the credit Penalosa deserves. Great boxer, and I'm happy my PR people gave him the respect he deserved.

Man, I'm so impressed by the way Juanma put on a show out there. He wasn't giving Penalosa no room to throw punches. Juanma was just too strong and was really pressuring Penalosa and didn't let him throw a lot of punches. Something else that impressed me was his stamina. He showed he could go the full 12 rounds and keep throwing a lot of punches. Great future for Juanma. Props to both boxers.

Hey e boxer, who are you reffering to. I dont think you should be reffering to neither of them, because they both gave what they had, which made a great fight. Stop posting dumb s* and give the men who boxed some props.
