Dont think so...for the first fight I mean.
Kessler had a good record up to then. But since then, due mainly to his problems with his promoter, he's just fought second-rate fighters who the WBA made into mandatories. He's wasting his prime and it's sad. After Calzaghe moved up to Light Heavyweight, everyone expected Kessler to fight the top fighters in the division and prove himself a dominant champion, and instead, he's just been fighting nobodies.

And he calls out the wrong people, too. He went over to the States last year, but most of the people he called out were from other weight divisions, and he simply isn't a big enough name yet for those people to have any reason to fight him. He should have been calling out people like Bute, Bika, Greene, Dirrell, in order to establish himself as the #1 in his own division; but instead he called out people like Hopkins, Winky, Calzaghe and Dawson, who were all in other weight divisions.

It wouldn't be the first time Hopkins left the US.

Just because Veit lost to a great fighter like Joe Calzaghe doesn't mean he's a bum. After all, Joe Frazier was destroyed by Foreman.

But I agree, Perdermo's not a good mandatory when there's fighters like Dirrell, Inkin, and Bika in the division.
he must be. he is white after all. wink wink

From what I can accertain, these fights aren't happening due to his promoters, not because of Kessler himself.

Are any of the people knocking Kessler even reading the previous posts in this thread?

                Battling Nelson,

I have heard that with this contract Kessler (somewhat foolishly) signed, the options run out in early 2010 and that Kessler will be a free agent from that point on.

Do you know if there's any truth in that?

The options are a standard 3 fight option. The rumours you're talking about is likely the lenght of Kessler managerial contract with Bettina Palle. It expires in february 2010 from what I've heard.

I think people on here are picking on Kessler because he is bound for greatness...geez if he were a yank he would be like Kelly Pavlik to them!
Cant wait to see him in another big fight...gee I wonder if Hopkins or Pavlik would have fought Calzaghe in Wales in front of 50,000??? WHAT!!
Yeah I know. But my point stil stands as, imo, Mundine's toughest fight was outside of his home country - Ottke. For the record I deem Kessler as a much better fighter than Ottke, but Mundine went over to Germany as a 10 fight rookie to try and win a title against one of the most crooked fighters of all time - That was tough/big test.

damn, WBA is a **** organisation.

                      Haussler, now this sweet Joker?

Amir Khan can jump up a division and get a shot at Kotelnik with no fights at that weight. Then there is super champs and all that nonsense. Christy, **** organisation.

When Kessler leaves Palle he should just vacate.
