Arum Blasts Producers of The ‘Thrilla’ Documentary

Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostI agree with this article, and I rarely agree with Arum. It was about time a documentary was made giving Frazier's side of the story, but there absolutely was no need for it to go out of its way to demean Ali in ways that had absolutely no relevance to Frazier, or for it to do so by twisting and bending the truth. That did Frazier a severe disservice, because it makes him look mean and a liar, when he's neither. Ali is no saint, but he's nothing like the picture the film paints of him either. The film's just a hatchet job, and the worst sort of journalism.

People are just pissed off because for once Ali is not portrayed as a larger than life good guy. This documentary showed both sides of the story and the real thruth behind Ali. It's about time that someone gave Frazier some credit and exposed the side that people like to hide about Ali.

People forget how much of an ******* and a prick Ali was. They forget the hell he put Frazier and his family through. It's about time someone showed Ali for what he really is.
I don't understand how people and Ali expect Frazier to forgive him either.
Would you forgive a man who turned his back on you after you helped him out, rediculed you and tried to humiliate you but then after it was all said and done tried to wash his hands by saying it was meant to "promote" the fight and giving a weak ass apology?
Showing up to someone's hotel firing off a gun isn't promoting a fight.. It's just arrogant ignorance.
Ali deserves to be in the state he is in. He was a great fighter with extraordinary talent and skill but he was a worthless man. I bet he must regret everything he said and did when he has trouble performing easy everyday functions.
The gorilla comments well take them how you want too. truly Ali is black and wanted nothing more for his people then equality. Joe Frazier was proud to be black no more or no less than Ali. the times in which both of these men grew up were trying times in America and not easy for either one of them to get through. Ali's remarks to me meant more of how Frazier fought straight forward come right at you here it is take your best shot and give you his. Using his brute strength sort of like a gorilla. He called Foreman the mummy because Foreman walked his opponents down in the ring holding his hands in a certain position that reminded Ali of how the mummy walked in the movies. he called Sonny Liston a bear. A Big Ugly Bear this was just Ali's style not a racist remark. It always the people who think that way that make those claims trying to make something more out of it then it was. Joe took it that way because Joe truly hated Ali and the hatred wasn't there in Ali’s heart for Joe.
No matter which way you see it in your mind neither of them would have made the money they did off the rivalry or been viewed how they are today if the other had NOT existed. The documentary is what it is a film from someone’s view point. A collective from some of the people who live through it and saw what they saw from where they were standing when it all went down. It is unfortunate that some of the people would exaggerate the truth or their roles in what actually happened but this human nature and it is the job of the reporters to be able to tell and print or document what they know to be fact and have others statements to back up what is being shown to the public. Whether or not you agree is your own right. The fact that someone would say some of the things in the post I replied to about another human being makes them a whole lot worse than the person they are criticizing. That is fact....Lefty

One thing is to be an ******* like Ali was to promote the fight another is to be happy when you see Ali in his condition. Sorry but there's no compairison there.
Frazier is an ******* to the 10th degree for the things he said in that documentary. If you want to be upset that Ali did what he did, that's fine but after all these years and Ali asking for fogiveness, you would think Frazier would get over it.
Instead the guy relishes in the Parkinsons Ali suffers from and in his words, "I smile because I know I did that to him". That's beyond low man, I don't care how you cut it.
The thing is, Frazier is the one who is worse off because History will remember Ali as the greatest HW of all time and an the biggest icon in boxing, while Frazier will be remembered as the guy who lost against Ali.
That's the real reason Frazier hates Ali, not because of a few things he said to promote the fight....

For once I agree with Arum on just about everything he said. Pacheco is a hypocrite and I still question that Ali said cut the gloves after the 14th round...
They made it seem like the fight was close, Ali was whoopin Joe's ass.
