I really dont care to much that there are more then one belt. Its just that these organizations dont let the boxers unify and strip them of their belts if they dont fight the organizations mandatory.
Do you think boxing should be like UFC??

1 & 3 are false, there is not a single MMA association, UFC is in itself a MMA association and there are countless others. There isn't a single regulation body. Boxing can't be like UFC, simply because in boxing, unlike the UFC, the champions fight each other quite often, instead of simply focusing in an single promotion.
That's why I said, I know that there are other organisations like PRIDE, but all the best fighters in the MMA sport are in UFC,because that's where they are earning big paychecks and they are fighting the best.Comment

boxing needs one belt, but less weight classes would suck, you would have guys like Paul Williams fighting the 5'6 1/2 Ricky Hatton.
The GSP vs BJ penn fight for example..huge size difference
One belt would be wayy better though, belts mean nothing now.Comment

Hi, I really like boxing, but there are some features in the UFC that I think boxing should do the same.
For example:
1-Only one belt( All the best fighters are fighting for the UFC belt, surely, there are others leagues like Pride(I think),but all the best are fighting for the UFC belt.
2-Less weightclasses, there are only 5 divisions (lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight), in boxing there are 17 weightclasses.....
3- One association(almost the same thing as one belt), all the fighters are licensed to UFC, there are no copyrights or **** like that from the promoters,so in UFC 2009 game, they will have all the best fighters, in boxing, they can't have every fighters, because they have to deal with all the differents promoters and it's hard to have all of them in the same game.
What do you think guys,do you think these changes would be great for boxing? I know that UFC also has some flaws , but I'm only talking about the advantages.
Thanks
Silva just won his 9th straight fight in the UFC... that is a RECORD. not 9 title defenses, just nine victories PERIOD. that shows that UFC fighters are in a tough matchup every time they step into the ring. unlike boxing where even title holders are fighting bums.
Boxing would be tones better if it had UFC's system.Comment

if boxing was one unit, like other sports, allowing all that goes on in it to still exists under a governing body, then the marketing could be broader and reach more people in its efforts. boxing is still too much like the wild wild west, ufc was certainly like the wild wild west until dana white put soem reigns on her and tamed that *****, now, ufc is a well greased machine and ready to make tons of cash, as we've seen, and continue growth. sad to say, boxing hasn't the same support, growth, or promotion. boxing survived on boxing stars, not the sport itself, like ufc.
i don't think boxing needs to be more like ufc, but they could learn a thing or two from the the new guy in town............ obviously boxing has survived the test of time, only thing is, times are changing, people are changing, and boxing hasn't, so, one thing i do know about business and trends, and just factual life, things always need to change, whether is drastic or subtle, some variations are needed, some aspects need to be readjusted.
if there were boxing shows like The Ultimate Fighter, but where a promoter did it for a division of fighters, that would help out, because the puts these guys faces in peoples homes and gets them mad publicity. something boxing doesn't do, they do lame ass shows like the contender and whatever that lame ass one DLH did. those did nothing, mainly because they made them all cheesy and about drama and not fighting.
bottom line, boxing just needs to unite, and make adjustments, subtle changes to make the sport better, they don't have to change up the sport to look like ufc, that wouldn't do boxing justice since it's been the grand daddy of sports in our country/world.Comment

no i don't think so, personally. what i think is that boxing needs to do the same thing of sorts as ufc though. like having a ONE governing body and unite the sport as ONE WHOLE SPORT, like ufc, that way it makes it easier for promotion and you can promote bigger and to more people. you can promote the sport as opposed to just one show at a time, like they do now.
