He uses a bit more jab but got countered by Paulie once he figured out how Hatton moved in after a few bobs and then jabs. Take away the ineffective jab and it's the same old Hatton. Watch it. A bit slower and less aggressive.

I think it was his tenacity that won him fights and not the lack of a jab. I don't know what that jab will do to a lefty like Pac. Watch out for short hook to knock Ricky down in the 2nd.
the short inside hook that pac throws is the same one that KOed diaz and the same one that knocked down jmm in the 2nd fight.

the only way hatton doesn't get caught with that punch is if he's clinching

they both fight the same way all the time.....both like to battle it out, the only differences are, manny throws more combos and is faster, ricky is bigger and stronger....

i see ricky wearing manny down and stopping him late in this fight.

And its easy to look good against past prime, dehydrated fighters and walking punching bags.
yeah, but 140 is hatton's best weight and pac has never fought above 140 before that fight.

No offence to Pacquiao, but this will be his first proper test at a higher weight, and his last two fights were basically tune ups.
i agree this will be the first proper test.

diaz was a tune up, but oscar was supposed to be a legit fight.

Likewise, this will be Hatton's first proper test under Floyd Mayweather Snr, to prove whether he truly has improved and still has it.

Ineffective jab? On many occasions he pushed Malignaggi across the ring with his jab, he set up a huge right hand that almost knocked down Malignaggi with a jab, and rocked him a few times with a jab.

His head movement was improved, his aggressiveness was still there but more educated, he threw more combinations and he didn't clinch at all.

This was only after a few weeks with Floyd Snr.
Hey man, I see you posting and you make a lot of good points in regards
to Ricky Hatton. You can't convince or make people see the improvements
or the chances in Ricky beating Manny because their already sold on the
Pacquiao hype machine. The only thing I'm waiting for is the fight on
May 2nd to clear up this debate once and for all but I do think Hatton
has a better chance of a upset than a lot of people.

Ricky looked excellent in stopping Paulie. In this fight, he has to use the jab all fight and stay on top of Pac. Grapple if he has to, but no rushing in, he tends to abandon the jab and rush in like he did against Floyd late in the fight. Let's hope he stays disciplined and doesn't let Manny get in and out on him. I think Manny wins a very tough fight.

Hatton has improved since being with Floyd Mayweather Snr, considering he was pretty bad against Mayweather and Lazcano but put on a much more rounded performance against Malignaggi. That showed improvement.

Hatton is not overconfident, just confident and maybe baffled at the fact Pacquiao is seen as the hot favourite at a weight class Hatton has dominated for years, after only 2 convincing wins against an average fighter and a past prime, dehydrated Oscar.

So a guy who has fought 2 perfect fights his last 2 fights & has come from a one handed brawler to a two fisted puncher/boxer & become p4p 1# with the same hof trainer for 8 years & is still improving.....

will be trumped by a guy who claims to dominate a weight class where he almost got ko'd by a shot 135 pounder in lazcano & has had 1 or 2 fights under mayweather sr will all of a sudden be fighting like floyd jr?

Last 2 fights for both guys; Ricky beat lazcano & malignaggi. Pacquiao beat david diaz & oscar. I put more stock in Manny's win.

RIcky Hatton is a rich man's version of david diaz.

To beat manny, thats not rich enough.
