Never thought about that, why not? I like that matchup, that would answer some questions.
Malignaggi: "This is a Make or Break Fight For Me"

I've worked with a member or two of Team Malignaggi fer 2 years just prior to the Hatton fight. Did his ******* site, helped with things like that. I didnt collect no money or nothin just did it because i was able and Paulie is one of my favorite boxers. I remember having conversations with a member of his team on various occasions talking about Paulie wanting the Hatton fight when i first started. Paulie really wanted Hatton. In fact i talked alot with one of his team members and it was always about Boxing, and rarely about what kind of work they needed me to do for them. Paulie looked real good against Edner and great in his first fight against N'dou. From there he had sub-par performances leading up to the Hatton fight. I knew how bad Paulie wanted Hatton but could tell he wasn't ready. He wasn't throwing his right hand nearly enough no body work, he was trying to win his fights on jabs, and some occasional combos. He just lacked to show any sort of ability to keep Hatton at bay. The first round of the fight it looked like Paulie could mos def beat Hatton. And we all saw what happened from there. I ironic as it was, went away during the fight fer some trouble i got into and couldnt help the team at the time. And i remember making a phone call the next day to find out what happened, and i always had hope and thought paulie COULD beat Hatton. But i wasnt suprised when i heard the news. I watched the fight later on. Bottom line, Paulie has come up short to World Class opposition. Hatton and Cotto. I wouldn't call his Wins from Bums. Thats clearly ignorant. He beat some good prospects soundly working up to the Cotto fight and earned that fight. He showed a ton of heart and determination in that fight. Beat Edner Cherry a solid gatekeeper, contender as is/was Lovemore N'dou. And Herman Ngdoujo was a hot prospect when Paulie fought him. Beating Jose Luis Castillo(well should have) as well as Randall Bailey. My question is where is the Paulie that faught Miguel Cotto? If he is broken, thats where it happened. Paulie not only showed tremendous heart. He threw punches. Right hands, uppercuts. He boxed extremely well. Cotto was dried out at 140 but thats neither here nor there. Paulie just hasn't shown what it takes to be what he wants to be since that Cotto fight.Comment

How did McGirt ruin Gatti's career? If you are going to make a comment like this then at least provide more information.
Hey jexy , nice avatar i made that graphic.

Paulie has what i think is the best jab in boxing or at least top 5. But he needs to throw that right hand, he needs to put combos together again, and throw behind the jab like he used to. He don't have power we know this. But he can box with the best. Paulie was at the least discouraged in the Hatton fight. Fighting a "bum" like this is what Zab Judahs been doin inbetween getting starched by belt holders. And he's still gettin title shots. Judahs a washed up punk. Paulie talks, thats Paulie. But he's a humble dude. I would think hes re-evaluated where he's at, otherwise Paulie would have called it quits. He obviously believes he got somethin left, i think so to. Buddy McGirt ruined Gatti's career and as "Great" of trainer as he is has ruined many. I knew this was a bad move from the get go. So all you haters wanna throw Paulie under the bus. Thats fine. I'll watch on 4/25. And decide after.Comment

speed dont help
he may have speed but with out power hes hasnt got a chance just like he found out with hatton.Comment

True dat. Malignaggi should focus on what HE did not do. Not blame Buddy and not give Hatton his props.Comment

Proof is in the pudding, he tried turning Gatti into a pure boxer. Gatti was a good boxer but McGirt didn't do anything but neglect his strengths it was obvious in his performances. Mayweather is Mayweather but, he tried boxing Mayweather, which 99% of fighters can't do let alone Gatti. And your going to tell me that had nothing to do with McGirt. And that was just an obvious example.
Trainer of the year in 2002 thats ONE positive, too bad its 2009 and in that 7 years he ain't did nothin.
Heres some food for thought, or "information":
" After his career as a boxer ended, he became a trainer. McGirt trains many top ranked fighters, including Antonio Tarver, Timo Hoffmann, Paulie Malignaggi, James McGirt Jr., and A'Kaytai Lionking Jones. He has recently taken 3 English fighters, Paul Smith, Brian Mihtar, Matthew Macklin, and Audley Harrison. He won the Boxing Writers' Association of America Trainer of the Year Award for 2002.
Some of his high-profile fights have ended in defeats for his fighters, including Lamon Brewster who lost his WBO title in a rematch to Wladimir Klitschko, (IBF Light Heavyweight champion), Antonio Tarver who lost to Bernard Hopkins, Paulie Malignaggi who lost to Ricky Hatton, and Arturo Gatti who was KO'd by Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Carlos Baldomir. He knows what he didn't do he's admitted in a few interviews after the fight, he admitted he's gun shy come fight night. That sub-conciously he's worried about his right hand. It's obvious. And important that he needs to deal with this because it almost cost him a few times, and def. did him in against Hatton. It's not about blaming Buddy. Buddy could have been the best trainer in the world(he's not close) and if your fighter ain't gonna throw leather he's gonna lose. Paulie knows what he needs to do. Getting rid of McGirt was the smartest decision he's ever made in his career. Maybe get rid of DiBella next.Comment
