WAS!!! What the hell happen to this guy. Its like a guy getting his ass beat and says I want no more!!! how good was he...HE ******!!! If he were any good hed fight on. He looked good beating up bums but when he stepped up BAM his brain shut down and he went in punk mode or something... Hyped upComment

Pretty good fighter with good power, good boxing and speed, but a questionable chin. Or else he really could have been great.Comment

I remember going to see him at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago when he fought Ranchero Ramirez in 2003
It was a really electric atmosphere and the Brazilian fans were going crazy.
Popo went down in the second then got up and proceeded to batter Ramirez from pillar to post. He ko'ed Ramirez early.
He was heavy handed and quick and very unorthodox. He just seemed like a buzzsaw back in 2003, just relentless and a big big puncher.
In his prime he was an exciting guy and I enjoyed his fights immensly.
He had another great fight with Barrios in which he went down again but ko'ed Barrios in the 12th in a barnburner. Freitas fought a weird unorthodox fight as was his trademark.
Personally, I think when he got some money and fame, he got less hungry but seeing him live was very enjoyable.Comment
