Someone should do some serious statistics here and try to figure out -by looking at other sports/shows- the average impact of the crisis on PPV sales, then factor that in. I would not be surprised) to Pac being the bigger draw once you control for that variable but until someone plays with the data, answering anything different than from "the guy who sold more ppvs against their common opponent" (=PBF) is simply dumb.

There are other ways to come to the conclusion. Floyd helps his fights by the way he promotes them, Manny doesnt add any verbal promoting when he is fighting, not saying he should or that his personality but it helps. If you want to bring up the economy, why hasnt any fight got anywhere close to those numbers, the econony hasnt always been in bad shape.

No other fight had that much money spent on promoting it before that. It also had the first 24/7 which made casual fans stop and want to see it.

I dont think the economy would effect it very much at all if at all , we are talking a box of beer price for a PPV , in the great depression which was twice as bad as now some of biggest crowds were seen in history , in hard times people look to cheap entertainment and in your home PPV is very cheap entertainment .

of course he did im not saying it was all DLH like some are saying. i'm just saying its hard to compare the 2 fights because of the 2 big factors i mentioned. the hatton vs pac fight will be a little bit better indicator of who the bigger draw is. i still say they are about even

What does that matter , Hatton has more UK airtime than anybody in sport but people always big note he is the most popular , your clutching at straws mate .

I can't really be bothered playing devil advocate but I while I agree that floyd sells the fight with all the stuff he does, that's not a number, it can become one if you do the data analysis I suggested.

the second part of what you say is also agreeable up to a point bcos it happens that Pac is behind only PBF and Tito, so it's not like his numbers are "average".

That being said I voted for Mayweather because without the data in hand, any other answer is quite dumb.

Hatton-Pacquiao will have bigger numbers than Hatton-Mayweather.

PPV has been going on for decades. If Floyd said nothing during the promotion like Oscar, the fight wouldnt have sold as much. I can only imagine how much an Ali fight would do today, given the way he promoted his fights. Just think, if Oscar had opened his mouth and added some type of personality, who knows the fight could have gotten close to 3 million buys.

guess whos idea was 24/7? the same person who promotes himself well and has the most haters on boxing scene.

pacquiao delahoya had a 24/7 as well,

you guys just cant accept the fact tht a fighter u hate for his personality is successful and doing better than your favourite fighters. bunch of sour g****s.
