I was looking forward to someone unifying the titles but these damn mandatories ruin things once again. Now some bum who doesn't deserve the title is going to end up with it.

clottey ****ed cotto, not the IBF. clottey was supposed to fight this dude by february, like 6 months after his last fight. had clottey taken care of business, we wouldn't be having this conversation. not 1 to take up for sanctioning bodies, EVER, but this one is on clottey.

Its not fair for Cotto OR Clottey. If Cotto wins, he only get a W, and Clottey would be left without anything.

If we are being realistic then we would know that by the time they fight nobody will give a **** what title they are fighting for. For the fighters it's all about status and making millions.

True that. But having multiple championships makes their resumes look better. Resumes are important for the status.

yeah bummer about the fight not being a unification

but hey at least its still happening.

**you'd think thought that since Cotto had a tune up fight in February, why wouldn't Arum allow the same for Clottey (who has yet to fight this year)

because Clottey could have gotten that mandatory out of the way, while hyping up his fight vs Cotto at the same time.

                      o well too late now.

but glad the fight is still happening.
