You don't have to fight a mandatory if you have a unification fight, but you have to send the paperwork to the IBF on time telling them there's a unification. Arum sent the paperwork too late, but it wasn't a screwup, he obviously did it on purpose. If he did it on time and this was a unification, then the winner just woulda had to fight Hlatshwayo or Jackiewicz as his next fight. Neither one was gonna waste his time on that so he woulda got stripped anyway. So Arum said to himself why not let Clottey get stripped now before I have to pay the extra fees.

Looks like the IBF have taken a leaf out of the WBC's book, with the the Tim Bradley fiasco.

Hopefully, boxers can see that belts mean nothing now, and that they should be going after the best fights available.

all this shows is that SOMETHING has to be done about the sanctioning bodies "mafia". This is absurd and ridiculous and yet nothing can be done about it and even worst is the fact that clearly whoever is out there that CAN do something about this is getting paid and doing jack-****.

This is what is pushing some people's interests away from boxing. Having so many champions in a weight class and then have a different one every three months or so is completely confusing. Reason being, **** like this. For an unknowing boxing "fan" to be clear of confusion from all this is out of the question. "He" will be like, ok, so Clottey was a champion but is not anymore because he will fight another champion and his belt now will be for another unknown champion but then there is two other "champions" while at the same time there is the "real" champion but this one is not yet clear because the main champions are still dis*****g who is number 1 and number two to then get a "real" champion because now having 4 main champions don't mean a thing but yet they do and if they fight each other they won't get recognized because they didn't fight their interim champions before fighting other champions.............

Meanwhile on the other side: the challenger vs the world champion...end of story
