This is fun. Next year whoever wins Cotto-Clottey fights the IBF champion, who vacates the title before the fight.

Well let's see, Clottey fights some undeserving mandatory (Hlatswayo got a gift in his fight with Delvin Rodriguez) or he takes probably his biggest payday so far and fights Cotto. I think his decision to drop his trinket is a no brainer.

Imagine how big a Cotto vs Floyd fight would be if it was to unify the Welterweight titles. The hype would be imense and I'm pretty sure I'd remember the fight as a great.

In all honesty you don't really need belts for a great fight but I won't lie and say that it doesn't add to the atmoesphere.

of course.....problem is, clottey was supposed to fight this dude by february 2.... what has he been doing since judah???

its a no-brainer now, but instead of sitting on his ass for 8 months, clottey could've fought dude in february, the same time cotto fought, and this fight would've been a uni.....clottey dropped the ball dogg....

but i agree w/ everyone who says "**** it," as long as we get to see the fight anyways.....unification or not.

Its ok, most of us know the deal with belts.
"The best" aren't exactly the ones with the belts all the time.
Some of the less knowledgeable fans, fall for that crap.

Absurd, hopefully whoever wins it turns out to be a decent fighter, can't hurt to have another talent in a division thats already full to the brim.

Still unification would be a hell of a lot better.

What a shame! It would have had alot more meaning if it was a unification fight!

He's pretty good. The 'other' guys that is. He's fought some good fighters and beaten some good fighters and if he has anything left he could still won a title easily.

He 'beat' Rodriguez already but the the decision was changed to a draw for whatever reason. He has also beaten Nate Campbell and his only loss is to Holt by UD. He also beat that guy who Mayweather beat, N'Dou, Baloyi and a few other good fighters.

He was a very good lightweight.
