Cotto is definitely stronger in the punching dept, but Hatton may be the more aggressive of the two, but that doesn't constitute one guy being stronger than the other. Cotto doesn't maul you and pressure you in that type of way, he uses his Boxing to corner you and trap you where then he'll start diggin at you.

Punch for Punch though, I think it's silly to say Hatton is stronger than Cotto.

Cotto is definately the stronger of the two. If Hatton weren't British, he would be just be another contender.

This is a good topic and one that is often confusing to analyze...The important thing to remember is that one has nothing to do with the other...Just because fighter A is strong does not mean that he is also a devestating puncher and vice versa...Punching power has more to do with technique than anything else...One could almost look at it like a golf swing, just because you swing hard doesn't mean the ball is going to go far...

With that said I believe that Cotto is the harder puncher while Hatton has the edge in overall strength...

Cotto has knocked out better competition like torres and quintana. And I'm sure I'm missing a couple of other names, while Hatton has castillo who I said was shot before the fight even happened. Plus it didn't help castillo that hugman kept hugging him before throwing a liver shot.

cotto gave it all against margarito till the 11th round getting hit with plaster anbd just had no energy left he fought his heart out then and he finally gave up but he didnt smartly to live another die than lose and maybe never fight again.
